What Happened in Release that Witch Episode 1?

The story introduces us to Cheng Yan, a modern-day mechanical engineer who dies from overwork only to wake up in the body of Roland Wimbledon, the Fourth Prince of the Kingdom of Graycastle. Episode 1 opens with a mere worker set ablaze inside a mine. The townspeople started screaming “Witch!” because a woman was present when the man was automatically set ablaze. People assumed that it was witchcraft as they couldn’t make heads or tails of the situation.

Meanwhile, Roland finds himself in Border Town, a desolate, backwater outpost. He has been sent there as part of a contest for the throne, but he ends up presiding over the execution of a “witch.” However, Roland stops Anna’s execution. The episode ended with Roland beginning to draft plans for his first major project. He’s going to bring the Industrial Revolution to a fantasy world, and he’s going to use “witchcraft” to power it.

Where to Expect From Release that Witch Episode 2?

As seen in the previous episode, Roland goes to visit Anna in the dungeon where she was locked. Upon arriving there, he sees a girl suspended by iron shackles, her wrists bound. Roland asks Anna to narrate the incident and learns that another man was about to kill her father when she attacked and killed him. However, in a twist of fate, Anna’s father reports her to the authorities to claim the bounty. Roland asks her to show her “witch” powers and witnesses Anna calmly manipulating fire as per her own will.

He then walks upto her, covers her naked body with his royal cloak. Anna is taken aback even more when Roland reveals his intention of hiring her. With that in mind, Episode 2 could lean into Roland’s plans with Anna and her magical power, where he could offer her an alliance to build a world where witches could live freely. This could further show how Cheng Yan, inside Roland’s body, will use Anna to turn the tide in his favor and ascend the throne eventually.
