Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma — Kanata Romance Guide

Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma - Kanata Romance Guide

Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma is all about finding the gods of Azuma and bringing back their power so that you can fight the dreadful blight and save the world. However, this process of locating all six gods and doing their tasks is going to be quite long. Once you unlock them, you can find these gods roaming around like normal people.

Kanata is one such god, and she unlocks fairly late in the main story. Thankfully, if you desire to choose her as your partner in the game, you’re going to have an easy time since a lot of her favorite gifts are highlighted in the story itself.

Kanata Overview And Common Locations

There are a total of six gods in Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, but only four will reveal themselves during your first stretch of the main story. As you progress quite a bit further, you’ll unlock Kai as the god of oni, who will take you through the Underworld and seek your help to defeat Lord Ura and reclaim his power.

Once you go through his arc, you’ll start attempting to unlock for final god, Kanata. After she first comes to your dream, you’ll have to go through The Heavenly Realm area before the other gods suggest throwing a party for her. She’ll finally unlock during this party and join your forces against the blight, which will complete your god character collection.

It’s important to remember the dishes you unlock while trying to throw the party for Kanata, as they’ll come in handy as you romance her.

Unfortunately, Kanata is a fleeting soul who doesn’t like staying in one place. Her home is in Summer Village, but you’ll hardly ever find her here even if you sleep at the Summer home shrine. She usually leaves the village early in the morning, and has the Spring and Winter villages as one of her most common locations.

However, you can very well find her in the Autumn Village as well. The best method to find Kanata is by waiting until a bit of the day passes and then looking for her icon on the top-right of one of the villages.

Best Gifts And Hangouts For Kanata

Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma - Kanata Romance Guide

As you might’ve seen already, when you head over to a character’s overview from the profiles section and switch the tab to preferences, you can see their loves, likes, dislikes, and hates. This marks all the gifts that have special interaction with Kanata, and they’re not available until you gift something to her, which then highlights it on this screen.

You can hang out with Kanata once a day, which serves as the best way to quickly increase your bond with her. While giving her a gift, you can get anywhere from eight, 13, 16, and 29 bond value depending on her preferences. Similarly, you can get a higher bond value if you trigger one of the hangout events that she likes.

If you gift Kanata something she doesn’t like, you can also lose some bond value.

Thankfully, she doesn’t make you work a lot for her best gifts, and here are your choices:

How To Get

Loves

Feast of the Heavens

This is a unique recipe that requires you to first reach bond level six with Kanata. After doing that, you can cook Omelet Rice with her to make it. This requires Steamed Rice, Eggs, and Ketchup.

You can randomly get the last ingredient through exploration or buy it at certain shops. Overall, this gift requires a lot more effort than the one below, and they both give the same bond value.

Orochi Killer

You’ll unlock the recipe for this item while throwing a feast for Kanata, and it serves as the best gift for her. All you need is Rice and Sleep Powder to make it. If you run out of the latter, you can buy it from a chemist.

Likes

Omelet Rice

Both of these recipes unlock by talking to Ulalaka while throwing a party for Kanata.

Gratin

Seafood Gratin

You can find the Toxic Isle on the northwestern side of the Skies of Azuma. There is only one Frog Statue on this island, which contains this recipe. It requires you to get Milk, Flour, Shrimp, and Cheese.

Mochi Cheese Gratin

You can get this one as a reward from the quest-giver of the Frog Statues as you talk to him after a lot of statue interactions during the late game. Outside of the normal ingredients, this one also needs Grilled Mochi.

Hamburg Steak

This recipe is also unlocked during the main story as you try to unlock Kanata.

Cheesy Hamburg Steak

You can find this recipe on the Frog Statue to the southeast of the Mechanical Maze in the Autumn Village. However, it’s quite difficult to make consistently since Cheese isn’t easy to come by.

Fox Gratin

This is another unique recipe that can be unlocked by first reaching bond six on Hina, and then cooking Gratin together with her.

Divine Spirits

Once you reach bond level ten with a character and finish all their bond quests till level nine, you’ll get a special bond quest from Woolby, which gives you the recipe for this item.

Azuma Sake

It’s no surprise that Kanata likes liquor as it’s mentioned many times in the story. Both of these items can be unlocked easily, and Azuma Sake serves as the best gift for her after Orochi Killer since it’s easy to make.

Spring Kuchikamizake

Best Kanata Hangouts

When you’re planning to hangout with Kanata, you can also choose «Discuss something intellectual» or «Grab a bite to eat at Iroha’s/Yachiyo’s» instead of giving her a gift since she likes both of these hangouts.

How Kanata Works In Combat

Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma - Kanata Romance Guide

After you upgrade Kanata’s bond once and reach the first bond level, you can take her out in combat by adding her to your party. She’s one of the few Healers in the game, which makes her a valuable teammate unless you have the likes of Ulalaka already built. Kanata uses a Talismans as her weapon, which also lets her do different types of damage.

Each bond level you gain on this character, you can get some sort of buff for your combat or a new recipe:

Bond Level

Effect Unlocked

1

Increases Kanata’s M.ATK (magic attack).

2

Unlocks the Light Blast skill, which lets her deal blasts of light damage.

3

Unlocks the Cure skill, which lets her heal allies. She can also cure various status effects and even revive allies.

4

Unlocks the Light Bullets skill, which can home in on enemies once shot.

5

Gives you the Bunny-Ear Headband recipe. While this isn’t a great piece to equip on your character, its main purpose is to serve as decorative equipment.

6

Unlocks the Spirit Stance skill, which increases her M.ATK further by 20 percent.

7

Unlocks the Fivefold Light Blast skill, which enhances the Light Blast ability.

8

Unlocks the Light Pillars skill, which shoots pillars in a straight line that deal high damage.

9

Unlocks the Dance of the Heavens skill, which lets her summon the butterflies that you can also summon with the Sacred Staff. These butterflies stay on the field for a bit.

10

Unlocks the Know Thy Place skill.

Since most of Kanata’s attacks are light-based, she’s not particularly good against the enemies that possess the same element. However, outside of that, you can use her in battle anywhere.

Kanata Marriage Guide

Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma - Kanata Romance Guide

Once you reach bond level ten with Kanata, you can finish all her bond quests until bond level nine. This will also require you to commit to her past bond level seven, though you can date multiple people at the same time. Once you’ve done all her quests, you can ask her to the Fateweaver Shrine with the Plum Branch and Divine Spirits in your inventory.

You’ll then get married the next time you head to bed. Five days after your marriage, Kanata will ask you if you want to grow the family, which subsequently leads to a child being born ten days after. If you say no, she’ll bring up the topic every five days. After getting your first child, you can also see the story to its end.
