As you progress through the story of Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma and learn the secrets of this land, you’ll also meet many new people. These people might sometimes include gods of Azuma themselves, and unlike what you’d normally expect, these gods walk among the people and are also available as bondable candidates.
Matsuri is the second god that you’ll meet quite early in the main story. As you unlock her and increase your bond, you can take her out to battle while also having a chance to marry her in the right circumstances. Here’s everything you need to know to make this process faster.

Summer 1st |
Once you’re done solving the crisis of the Spring Village as the first stop during the main story, you’ll make the journey to your second a.k.a. Summer Village. Soon after you enter, you’ll meet a few villagers looking for your help, which will eventually turn into a hunt for the sword relic, which was inside Summer God’s shrine.
As you retrieve this relic and get it repaired, you’ll finally unlock Matsuri as your second god. Once she unlocks, you’ll have a bit more story to learn some mechanics of village management, but you can start increasing her bond soon after. She’ll also give you the Sacred Sword treasure, which will be highly important on your journey.
Sacred Sword is one of the best weapons in the game as long as you can maintain high RP.
After unlocking Matsuri, you can easily find her exiting the Summer God Shrine as soon as the day starts. Since you can regularly find her at this location once the day starts, it serves as a good method to increase her bond daily. However, if you want to find her during the day, she’s commonly located in the Spring or Autumn Village as well.
Best Gifts And Hangouts For Matsuri
Of course, finding Matsuri is only the first step on your bond journey since there are many things you can do to increase it: Talk to her daily, use your Plum Branch near her, take her out on combat, complete her requests, and hang out with her every day. The last method is arguably the best since it’ll increase your bond immensely.
Usually, you can get eight bond value for each neutral gift given to a character, with a chance to get 13 with some. However, if you give a liked or loved gift to them, you can get 16 and 29 bond value respectively. Similarly, you get extra bond for triggering hangouts that the character likes. Here are some of the best gifts and hangouts you have for Matsuri:

This is a unique recipe that requires you to first reach bond six with Matsuri. When that happens, you can cook Anmitsu Cream Jelly with her at any shop like the Iroha’s Restaurant to get this item. |

Anmitsu Fruit Jelly |
As you explore the map of Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma, you can find various frog statues. You can get these recipes after finding a bunch of these statues and claiming your rewards from the quest-giver. |

This is a late-game recipe that you can find on a frog in the Island of Slumber sky area. However, you might be able to get this item randomly while getting return gifts from various characters, including Matsuri. |
Grilled Squid |
Grilled Squid is one of the early rewards you can get from Watarase after getting a bunch of fish once you unlock fishing in Winter Village. It becomes one of the best gifts for Matsuri once you get it. |

This is another unique recipe that you can create with Matsuri by cooking the Grilled Onigiri with her. It takes the same ingredients. |
Best Matsuri Hangouts
Outside of giving gifts to Matsuri, you can trigger many other hangouts when you click on «Let’s hang out» option from her dialogues each day. While on this screen, if you see «Grab a bite to eat at Yachiyo/Iroha», «Chat about food», «Talk about weapons», or «Discuss combat» hangouts, you can freely go for them.
She likes all these hangouts, with a special place in her heart for the last one. However, make sure to not choose «Invite out to the ocean» as she wouldn’t like that a lot. Outside of that, she also dislikes mushrooms.
How Matsuri Works In Combat
Apart from romancing Matsuri, you can also put her in your combat party after getting bond level one on her. She’s arguably one of the best fighters in the game as an Attacker-type ally. You can also get the ing buffs/items from her after upgrading your bond levels:
Bond Level |

2 |
Unlocks the Fire Slash skill, which lets her trigger a fire-based attack. |

8 |

When you’re fighting enemies weak to fire, Matsuri is undoubtedly your best choice for a teammate.
However, she can be great during battle even outside of that.
Matsuri Marriage Guide
Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma has a simple procedure for marriage once you reach bond level ten with Matsuri and complete all her bond quests till level nine. Once you’ve done that, you can ask her to visit the Fateweaver Shrine with you on a day when you don’t have any other dates plan, which will trigger your marriage when you head to bed.
Of course, you’ll need to grow a Plum Branch and get the Divine Spirits before asking her out as well. Once you’re married, you can have children with Matsuri by waiting for her to ask you five days after the marriage. If you reject her, she’ll continuously ask you every five days.
