The upcoming Welsh derby between Wrexham and Swansea will give fans and Sky Sports viewers the unique opportunity to hear A-list stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney try their hand at commentating on a game of football.
Since taking over as Wrexham owners in 2021, the duo has helped raise the profile of the club to dizzying heights, becoming a global sensation and even gathering a US following too.
The players on the pitch have matched that, though, and are now pushing for a record-breaking fourth-successive promotion. And, for those wanting to see how they get on against Swansea later this month, you can hear the live thoughts of Reynolds and McElhenney as the match goes on.
Ryan Reynolds will commentate on Wrexham game

On March 13, Wrexham host Welsh rivals Swansea at the historic Racecourse Ground. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, and the audience will have the option to get alternate commentary from the actors.
Now, it’s well known that Reynolds and McElhenney are not experts on the beautiful game. So, to hear them detailing the action live will be an interesting test of how far their football knowledge has come over the years.
The ‘Live from Wrexham with Rob & Ryan’ broadcast will be a first-of-its-kind move from Sky Sports. It will also feature other high-profile guests dropping in along the way to add their thoughts. Considering the circles the pair move in, it’s not unthinkable that the likes of Hugh Jackman could be involved.
On the decision to take on this intriguing opportunity, the actors said: “As with our decision to take over Wrexham five years ago, we genuinely have no idea how this is going to go, but we will give it our best. Neither of us have called a sporting event of any variety, let alone a sport we basically learned the rules of five years ago.

“Either way, it will be another unpredictable day at the Racecourse and we can’t wait. We’re grateful to our partners at the EFL and Sky Sports, the latter of which we hope is ready with the bleep button.”
Snoop Dogg will be desperate for a win to spoil the party
What makes this even more tantalising is the fact that Snoop Dogg is now affiliated with Swansea, so this will be a thrilling celebrity clash.
It’s not known whether Snoop will make the trip to Wales again so soon after his first trip there at the end of last month, but that would really be the icing on the cake if so. Or, perhaps he will chime in with some commentary of his own?
Wrexham are currently 11 points clear of Swansea and sit in the top six in the Championship. If they keep this up, they’ll have a chance of play-off glory and promotion to the Premier League.
We’re sure Snoop would love nothing more than to see his own team ruin the celebrations for Rob and Ryan’s Wrexham.
