Pakistan has launched a search operation after a cargo plane carrying five crew members disappeared off the coast of Karachi late on July 7.
The Boeing 737, operated by K2 Airways, lost contact with air traffic controllers at 9:21pm local time while flying from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Karachi.
According to Pakistan’s airport authority, the crew reported a navigation system issue just minutes before the aircraft rapidly descended from radar.
Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 appears to show the plane experiencing sharp altitude changes before entering a steep descent.
Following the occurrence RESCUE COORD CENTRE has been activated and coordinated Search & Rescue launched at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.
There were five crew members onboard the aircraft.

In a statement, K2 Airways confirmed all five crew members were on board and said it was “fully cooperating with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and other government agencies.”
“We continue to pray, earnestly, for the safety of our colleagues,” the airline added.
Pakistan’s navy, air force, and other emergency agencies have been deployed to search for the missing aircraft off the coast of Karachi.
The incident is the country’s most serious aviation emergency since 2020, when a Pakistan International Airlines Flight crash killed 97 of the 99 people on board while approaching Karachi Airport.
