In recent days, Sydney Sweeney has been making waves again, with her latest entry, The Housemaid. Starring alongside the beautiful Amanda Seyfried in the psychological thriller, the Euphoria actress knew how to make her upcoming flick a popular one while it was in the making.

As per a report by Variety, director Paul Feig recalled how Sweeney wished the whole cast to be on Family Feud, the TV show. What happened next? Well, that’s another interesting story. 

Talking to the outlet, the director stated, “Syd goes, ‘We’ve got to go on ‘Family Feud.’ And I was like, ‘That’s a hilarious idea.’” He then called Lionsgate and discussed the brilliant idea, which was approved within no time. Next, the film stars, including Sweeney, Seyfried, and the director, all stepped up to be part of Celebrity Family Feud on a December 4 episode. 

Expressing what he feels about Sweeney, Lionsgate film group chair Adam Fogelson stated to Variety that the actress understands her brand, and her desire to be on Celebrity Family Feud, “should not be treated lightly.” 

Next, he added,

You could imagine somebody with that level of star power sort of saying, ‘I’m not sure I want to do that.’ And Sydney not only did it, she did it with joy, as did Amanda, Brandon and Paul, all coming together to make it happen.

The Housemaid was released on December 19, 2025. It has already been almost a month since the flick was beamed on the big screen and is continually collecting great revenue at the box office. The film has already earned more than $140 million, according to Variety. 

Meanwhile, it should be noted that the Celebrity Family Feud episode on which The Housemaid cast appeared generated 1.5 million video views within the linear window, according to Talkwalker Social Content Ratings, as reported by the outlet.

The Housemaid Has One More Story to Tell: Sequel in Discussion

Talking about the grand box office collection The Housemaid made, Lionsgate officially confirmed that a sequel is in the works. Elle reports that it was on January 6 that the studio announced a follow up of the 2025 thriller, The Housemaid’s Secret. 

The outlet also suggests that the next entry in the series has already been put under development “for the past few months.” In case you don’t know, the movie is based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, and the sequel will be McFadden’s 2023 novel. We might even get a third entry of The Housemaid as the novel series happens to be a trilogy.

After shattering records with her big screen release of The Housemaid, Sydney Sweeney is all set to bring the heat back in 2026.

Moreover, she is rumored to be joining the big leagues in The Devil Wears Prada 2, alongside Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, though her exact role remains unconfirmed.
