There are plenty of hidden secrets scattered about Faerun in Baldur’s Gate 3, from the brain node puzzle in Act Two to the many secrets hidden within the Temple of Shar. One such secret lies in Act One at the Rosymorn Monastery.
If you have been exploring the mountains and have made your way to Rosymorn Monastery, you may have come across a stained-glass window puzzle. The solution to the puzzle is not the most obvious, but you should be able to solve it quickly.
Here is the solution to the stained-glass window puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where is The Stained-Glass Window Puzzle?
The stained-glass window puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be found in Act One after you have traveled to the mountains. Once you are in the mountains, travel to the northeastern corner of the map to find Rosymorn Monastery.
The monastery is a Creche belonging to Lae’zel’s people, and, as such, is part of her main quest. After entering the monastery, make your way to the top floor.
In the northwest corner of the monastery, on the second floor, you will find a room with a stained-glass window embedded in the floor. This is the puzzle you are looking for, and the items required to complete it are scattered about the monastery.
How to Solve The Stained-Glass Window Puzzle
To solve the stained-glass window puzzle, you will need to get your hands on four ceremonial weapons. These items are hidden throughout the monastery and will take some time to obtain.
Let’s break down where you can find each of the weapons.
|
Weapon |
Location |
|---|---|
|
Ceremonial Mace |
Found in the room with the drunken Kobolds. These Kobolds are highly susceptible to fire damage and will explode if killed using fire. You can easily defeat them with smokepowder bombs or fire spells. |
|
Ceremonial Longsword |
Placed on the pedestal in the room with the stained-glass puzzle. |
|
Ceremonial Battleaxe |
In the room with the
Guardian of Faith on the northeastern side of the monastery. This room is near where the stained-glass puzzle room is located. |
|
Ceremonial Warhammer |
Found in the eagle’s nest on the roof of the monastery. The eagles will become hostile if you attempt to steal the warhammer. You can use a Mage Hand to throw the sword to you if you wish to avoid confronting the eagles. |
Unfortunately, you cannot use just any weapon, or I would suggest using one of the many magic weapons found on your journey leading up to this point. However, if you wish to avoid confronting the Kobolds, you can use a rusty mace in place of the Ceremonial Mace. Several can be found around the monastery.
Once you have all the ceremonial weapons, make your way back to the stained-glass window puzzle. You will need to place the weapons on the pedestal of the Dawnmaster who used the weapon.

You need to place the weapons in the following locations. Interact with the plaques to know which pedestal is which.
- Ceremonial Mace — Dawnmaster Stockhold
- Ceremonial Sword — Dawnmaster Welkinglory
- Ceremonial Warhammer — Dawnmaster Seed
- Ceremonial Battleaxe — Dawnmaster Vaseid
You will know when a weapon has been placed in the correct area because the gems on the front of the pedestal will glow. If you place a weapon in the wrong spot, it will be thrown off the pedestal.
Once all the weapons have been placed in the correct locations, the wall at the back of the room will lower, granting you access to the treasure within, which is the Dawnmaster’s Crest. This crest is required to lower the defenses to get the Blood of Lathander.
