Robert Irwin named a kangaroo after fellow Dancing with the Stars winner Charli D’Amelio to celebrate her special visit to his family’s zoo.
Robert Irwin, son of renowned conservationist and ‘Crocodile Hunter’ host Steve Irwin, is taking up his late father’s mantle as the face of the Australia Zoo.
On top of his work as a wildlife educator, Robert appeared on Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars, which he won alongside his partner, Witney Carson, in 2025.
In early April 2026, the Australia Zoo was graced with the presence of another Dancing with the Stars champion: Charli D’Amelio, who took home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in 2022.

Charli D’Amelio gets kangaroo named after her at Australia Zoo
Charli uploaded a short vlog of her time at the zoo on TikTok, which included a conversation with Irwin where he gave her an extremely special honor while he was showing her the kangaroo enclosure.
“I think it’s only fair that you have a kangaroo named after you,” Irwin said. “I think it would be fun. Little Charli. What do you think?”
“I think this is the best day of my life. Thank you,” a shocked Charli replied as she was feeding one of the animals by hand.
The TikToker got a grand tour of the Australia Zoo, where she held a koala, patted kangaroos, and got up-close and personal with a rhinoceros.
“Thank you for the best day!” Charli captioned her video.
“Thanks so much for visiting,” Robert replied in the comments section. “You’re welcome to come catch up with Charli the kangaroo any time!”
