The new Street Fighter movie’s ensemble cast is coming together, with many big names recently reported to be involved. After it was revealed that David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil, The Suicide Squad) had been cast as M. Bison, it was reported that WWE star Cody Rhodes was in talks to take on the role of Guile, the flat-topped fighting soldier.
Street Fighter won’t be coming to theaters until next year, but fans are wondering how these actors might appear in those roles. The popular digital artist Kode «BossLogic» Abdo has crafted up some images to imagine what Dastmalchian and Rhodes might look like. In the images, the characters are depicted as being faithful to how they appeared in the original video games, complete with Guile’s unique hairstyle. The photos, posted to Instagram, can be viewed below.
After the two headlined two WrestleManias in a row, Rhodes’ fellow WWE star Roman Reigns has also reportedly been cast as Akuma. Other names reportedly on board for the cast of the film include Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Curtis «50 Cent» Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, and Andrew Schulz as Dan.
Street Fighter Had a Change in Directors Ahead of Casting
Originally, filmmaking duo Danny and Michael Philippou, known for their YouTube channel RackaRacka, were set to direct the new Street Fighter film. The twin brothers later exited the project to focus on their horror film Bring Her Back, which served as the follow-up to their hit movie Talk to Me. Kitao Sakurai was later named as the new director, though the movie was given a delay as a result. Originally set for a release on March 20, 2026, the film was pulled from the release calendar and has not yet been given a new date.
Cody Rhodes is currently one of the biggest stars of WWE. After recently performing with John Cena at WrestleMania, Rhodes won the company’s latest King of the Ring tournament. After voicing himself in animated WWE projects, Rhodes will be making his live-action feature film debut in the upcoming comedy The Naked Gun. This could be the start of Rhodes making his own transition to Hollywood like Cena, Dave Bautista, and Dwayne «The Rock» Johnson have done before him.
David Dastmalchian recently shined in the hit horror film Late Night with the Devil. The veteran character actor is also known in part for his role as Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. While he’s been in many major films, including Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Oppenheimer, M. Bison could be Dastmalchian’s biggest role to date as the film’s primary antagonist.
The Street Fighter reboot is expected to be released in theaters sometime in 2026.
