Superman’s Nathan Fillion Teases Guy Gardner’s Role in DCU Lanterns Show

Nathan Fillion is beginning to tease Guy Gardner’s role in the DCU Lanterns show.

Fillion’s Green Lantern Guy Gardner character will debut in James Gunn’s Superman movie, which releases in theaters next month. It’s been confirmed that, following that, Fillion will also star in Lanterns, the DCU show that features Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.

What did Nathan Fillion say about Guy Gardner’s role in Lanterns?

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fillion teased that Guy will feel “a little bit higher strung” in Lanterns after his role in Superman.

He continued, “I’ve done a scene in Lanterns, we filmed it already, where he’s contently smug. It’s neat to see him in different environments and how those different environments will affect a character.”

Fillion also said about his Green Lantern character, “I love the idea that if you have an emergency and you need a Green Lantern — there’s thousands of them out there in the galaxy — this is the last one you want…What is very true about Guy Gardner…is you don’t have to be good and pure of heart to be a Green Lantern. You just have to be fearless. You just have to have the will. And Guy Gardner thinks he can take on Superman. That’s how fearless he is. No, you can’t take on Superman, dude.”

Lanterns is currently in production and, according to Entertainment Weekly, over halfway finished with filming. Chris Mundy serves as the series’ showrunner. He is also a writer and executive producer alongside Damon Lindelof and Tom King.

In addition to Chandler, Pierre, and Fillion, the cast includes Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, and Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe.

Lanterns will premiere on HBO Max in 2026. Superman, meanwhile, will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025, while it’s also been confirmed that Fillion will show up in Peacemaker Season 2, which arrives on August 21, 2025.
