Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said he expects a wave of players will call in sick when GTA 6 launches on November 19, putting to bed any delay fears, once again.
Speaking at the new iicon conference in April 2026, Zelnick discussed the scale of the release and Rockstar’s approach to development, pointing to the level of anticipation surrounding and a desire to meet fan expectations.
Rockstar focused on “most spectacular piece of entertainment”
As per IGN, Zelnick didn’t downplay the impact of GTA 6’s launch, adding that he does “think a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19” when the game releases.
He also acknowledged Rockstar’s priority of delivering a project that goes beyond anything else in entertainment, and not just games.
“What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history – and it’s a pretty daunting challenge. If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself.”

The comments came as part of a wider discussion about Rockstar’s broader portfolio and future plans under Take-Two, including references to past titles like L.A. Noire, which Zelnick said hasn’t been forgotten and could still have a future.
The publisher has already confirmed that marketing for GTA 6 is set to begin in summer 2026, setting up what is expected to be one of the most profitable games ever.
