Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:

The path to space is a long one in Terra Invicta, but it’s the whole other half of the game that has just as much depth as earth. And the first step towards advancing in space is the building of habitations.

Short-handed to habs in-game, they are the basis for your growth across space and are what allow you to actually harvest its many resources, build ships, and take the fight to your enemies.

What Are Habs?

Terra Invicta: Complete Guide To Habs

Habs come in two major forms in the game. Space Stations that orbit celestial bodies or Lagrange Points, and outposts that you build on the surface of planets or other celestial bodies. Hab modules are shared for both, though they can have different effects depending on which of the two they are.

For the most part, space stations can be built freely around the orbit of a planet. When it comes to outposts, there are only a limited number of sites on each celestial body, and each of these sites has a different resource output.

How To Build Habs

Building habs is simple. The first you’ll make is a space station. To create them, you first need Boost, which is generated from certain Orgs and from putting Investment Points into the Boost priority in a nation.

Once you have enough Boost, simply zoom out on the planet and a button will appear, allowing you to create a space station to orbit the earth. This process is the same for every planet, though it will take longer for them to be constructed since the materials have to travel from earth

When it comes to outposts on a celestial body, you’ll first need to send a prospector probe to get the lay of the land. After this, you are free to place a hab on any available site. This determines the resources you get, so decide carefully.

Hab Modules

After you’ve built a hab, it doesn’t do much of anything until you give it some modules. By default, habs start at Tier one, and advance all the way up to Tier three, letting you place more and higher level modules. At the beginning, you will have four Tier one module slots to fill.

To start, you’ll want to place a module that can generate power. The closer you are to the sun, the more efficient solar power will be. The further you are, you’ll have to rely on other sources, like reactors.

From there, you can start placing anything you want. You can make labs that give you bonus research on certain categories, quarters that generate money, space docks to build ships, and plenty more. All of these must be researched first, though you can also decommission modules if you want to replace them with another later.

There are certain modules that are restricted to either space station or outposts. For example, mining complexes can only be built in outposts, and must occupy the north module slot.

Building In Space Versus Building On Earth

When you first start considering habs in space, you’ll have no choice but to build them on earth. This means that the are entirely constructed on earth, and then boosted up to space. The more expensive the structure, the more boost it takes to bring it into space.

Once you have an income of space resources, typically after you’ve built your first mine, then you can start building structures in space. This dramatically reduces the amount of Boost that is needed, taking up some of your space resources instead.

That said, the structures are still sent from earth, even if they are then built in space. As such, while it may end up being cheaper to build, it will still take the same amount of time to reach its destination. When traveling to farther celestial bodies like Mars, this can take up to an in-game year.

As such, it’s worth investing in the construction module early. This can be built at any hab and allows the structures to be built locally rather than sent from earth, cutting down construction time dramatically.

A construction module for ships can also be developed, allowing them to travel to a planet and build structures there without having to constantly build a new construction module at every new planet you settle on.
