Texas Rages After Ken Paxton Is Caught on Camera With Alleged Mistress: ‘What Is Wrong With This State?’

Another scandal?

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is once again at the center of a political firestorm after video emerged appearing to show him boarding a flight to Iceland with the woman widely reported to be his longtime mistress, setting off an avalanche of furious reactions across the Lone Star State.

The footage, first reported by the Daily Mail and highlighted by the San Antonio Current, allegedly shows Paxton and Christian influencer Tracy Duhon traveling together through Washington Dulles International Airport before flying to Reykjavik. The report also claims the pair were seen together after landing in Iceland. You can watch the video here.

The trip comes at a politically explosive moment. Paxton is campaigning for the U.S. Senate while remaining legally married to State Sen. Angela Paxton, although she filed for divorce in 2025 following reports of his relationship with Duhon.

On Reddit’s r/Texas community, where discussion of the story quickly climbed to the top of the forum, many users argued that the latest controversy is unlikely to change the minds of Republican voters.

“I’m struggling to think of anything that Paxton could be caught on video doing that would make a red’hatter not vote for him,” one commenter wrote.

Another added, “Oh this news will only increase his support. Republicans love cheats.”

Others questioned why the story still used the word “alleged.”

“I think if you get caught getting off on a European vacation with her we’re beyond ‘alleged,’” one popular comment read.

Critics Say Another Scandal Will Not Matter

The online reaction quickly expanded beyond the vacation itself and into broader frustration with Texas politics.

“And this guy is tied with Talarico. What is wrong with this state?” one highly upvoted Reddit user asked, referring to polling showing Paxton in a close race with Democratic challenger James Talarico.

Several commenters argued that party loyalty has become more important than personal conduct.

“People no longer vote for the person but the party,” one user wrote while blaming decades of political polarization for what they described as declining standards.

Others pointed to Paxton’s long history of controversy, mentioning previous investigations, legal battles, impeachment proceedings, and ethics questions alongside the latest allegations involving his personal life.

Some users also focused on the apparent contradiction between Duhon’s public identity and the allegations surrounding the relationship.

“How can you be a ‘Christian influencer’ if you’re sleeping with a married man?” one commenter asked.

Still, some Reddit users were a little more sympathetic. A handful noted that Paxton and his wife have been separated for an extended period and are currently in divorce proceedings, arguing that the relationship itself is no longer a surprise.

Yet, there’s no question the dominant mood was one of disbelief that yet another scandal involving one of Texas’ most controversial politicians could arrive during a tightly contested Senate campaign without seriously threatening his electoral prospects.

Whether the Iceland getaway becomes a defining campaign moment or simply another chapter in Paxton’s lengthy list of controversies remains to be seen. If the reaction online is any indication, many Texans believe the outrage will be loud, but the ballots may tell a very different story.
