What is The Miniature Wife About?

Created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, The Miniature Wife is based on Manuel Gonzales’ short story and has been described as “a dramedy series examining the power (im)balances between spouses after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.”

The story follows married couple Les and Lindy. Peacock recently released a trailer offering a glimpse into the premise. It opens with the couple at a dinner with friends, where Lindy expresses her support for Les’ ambitions of winning a Nobel Prize, much like he once supported her writing career.

Things quickly spiral when Les demonstrates his breakthrough in bio-agrotech, shrinking a piece of corn in what he calls “the miracle of miniaturization.”

But it take an unexpected turn when Lindy is accidentally exposed to the technology. She finds herself reduced to the size of a doll and trapped in a dollhouse.

As Lindy struggles to cope, Les races against time to reverse the effects, with just 30 days before losing control of the invention. The trailer captures the tension as Lindy asks her husband, “How long until you can fix me?” highlighting both the urgency and emotional strain at the heart of the series.

The Miniature Wife Star Teases a Tender Chaotic Marriage Drama

Matthew Macfadyen is teasing a wild yet emotionally grounded ride with Peacock’s upcoming series The Miniature Wife. Reflecting on the story, the actor described it as both a “ridiculous” and a deeply tender story.

“I think it’s just a brilliant predicament, isn’t it?” he told Variety, adding, “It’s a ridiculous thing, but also immediately intriguing. But it’s also about a relationship.”

He also praised the show’s writing for blending sharp, biting humor with genuine emotional depth, while describing the series as a crossover of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Scenes from a Marriage. “When you have something so heightened, it’s thrilling to jump in and see where it leads you,” he added.

The actor also shared that he enjoyed working alongside Elizabeth Banks in The Miniature Wife. O-T Fagbenle and Sian Clifford also reflected on the creative production, especially the miniature set, “which was done in a completely original way.”

“They had a giant AirPod that became a phone. And a set of Lego stairs! It was pretty amazing,” Clifford shared, reflecting back on filming the series.
