Undeniably, one of the best parts about any video game, besides playing the game itself, is the lore. We’re not talking about just any kind of lore either. We’re talking about the kind that has you reading every Codex page, listening to every audio tape and interacting with every piece of secondary media possible.

One game with fantastic lore is League of Legends, the long-running MOBA from Riot Games that boasts over 150 characters. While there are a ton of LoL lore experts, apparently one of them isn’t Faker, AKA the world’s best League player. In fact, the legendary esports competitor knows very little about the finest details of League.

You Don't Become The GOAT By Reading Every Bit Of Lore, It Seems

As first spotted by Insider Gaming, Faker, whose real name is Lee Sang-hyeok, revealed in a recent interview that his knowledge of League is pretty minimal at best. When asked by Hotspawn which League character he’d like to see get their own animated show, Faker had this to say:

So I know really well about League champions and their skills. I don’t know about them, actually. I don’t know about their backgrounds or storylines. And I also don’t know anything about TV shows. So it’s like asking an Iron player how to play League well.

OK, understandable. So what about the art of League of Legends? Is there anything that he’s a fan of?

«I also actually don’t really pay attention to the splash arts, but I collaborated to actually make my Ahri skin, so I will go with that one,» Faker added.

In a -up question, Faker further affirmed that the ongoing of League just isn’t all that important to him, saying in part, «Well, myself, you know, I didn’t really pay attention to other [aspects] of League of Legends (like TV shows or recently announced live action movie) …»

Considering just how dominant Faker has been at LoL, it probably has a lot to do with focusing on, well, the game and not the other stuff around it. Still, it is pretty wild to think that the world’s best player is also seemingly the least knowledgeable about the game they’ve devoted so much time to.
