2K Games Is Working On An «Unannounced Remake»

2K Games is seemingly working on another remake, as a developer references an unannounced remake on his LinkedIn page.

This was first reported by the outlet MP1st, who spotted that motion capture animator Brett Shupe includes a list of his 2K Games projects on his LinkedIn page. Here, we can see that he worked on some of 2K's previous games, but also on several projects that haven't been announced yet.

2K Games Has Another Remake In The Works

2K Games Is Working On An "Unannounced Remake"

One of these unannounced projects is listed as a remake. He doesn't say what remake it is, but there are games from 2K's back catalogue that are likely contenders. The first would be BioShock, perhaps to line up with the development of BioShock 4 — which appears to be ramping up now.

As MP1st highlighted in their report, Spec Ops: The Line is another possibility, given the cult following it has amassed since its launch in 2012. However, given that the game was recently delisted from storefronts over an expired licence, this feels a little less likely. And while it is a strategy to delist original games when remakes are on the way, we would expect 2K to at least wait until the new one has been announced.

Spec Ops: The Line was briefly available on GOG and Xbox after being removed from Steam , but it has since been delisted on all storefronts.

The LinkedIn profile also references other games that are yet to be announced, but these are more vague. These are described as an "upcoming unannounced title" and an "upcoming unannounced sports title". Given that the other projects are more descriptive (one refers to a new BioShock title) it's possible that the unannounced title is a new IP — or is perhaps just an instalment from a series that 2K isn't ready to confirm just yet.

We'll have to wait and see when 2K Games is ready to confirm what these projects are. However, it's worth noting that one of the games mentioned in the LinkedIn post was cancelled — a project called Erebus that was being made alongside Supermassive — so there's no guarantee that these will see the light of day, as is the nature of game development.

Previously, 2K Games has published remakes of the Mafia trilogy, labelled the Definitive Edition. We also improved releases of the BioShock hames as part of BioShock: The Collection.
