6 Hardest Achievements To Unlock In Slitterhead

Slitterhead, the game by Silent Hill and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama, is finally out, and it’s a pretty smooth platinum journey. There’s one real nasty achievement that requires a new playthrough if you didn’t know ahead of time, and most of the collectibles weren’t found until many days after release, but they’ve all been discovered now.

The cosmetics, in particular, can be a bit tricky in terms of unlocking requirements, which is why they weren’t discovered for days. You can platinum this game in one playthrough, but it is easier to do it in two, although it’ll take longer. Pick whatever path you feel more comfortable with.

6 Total Recall

The Easiest But Most Abundant Collectible

Value

Description

10G/Bronze

Gathered all of the Hyoki’s memory fragments.

The first collectible type that was found in its entirety is memory fragments. Three are typically in every single level, although you will need to be in the second or third loop to access them. Most levels have multiple loops, so don’t bother searching for collectibles during the first run.

Most can be found by just looking around, but there are a few sneaky ones, like the one inside the well in Ghost Family RE RE 3rd Loop or the secret area you access with the dog in Over Limit. You’ll want to use a guide, and after obtaining all memory fragments and beating the game, you should be able to max out all the Rarities for another achievement, Full Spec.

5 Shrine Robber

Difficult On Its Own But Even Harder On Nightmare

Value

Description

10G/Bronze

Completed all Shrine trials.

There are a few reasons you may want to do two playthroughs of this game instead of one, and the Shrine Robber achievement is one of the biggest. Throughout the levels, you’ll find these golden Shrines that’ll give you a challenge to overcome, typically a boss fight, with a costume as a reward.

These fights are already challenging enough on Normal, but if you try to complete all these on Nightmare, it’s going to be rough. They are easier if you attempt them at the endgame when you’re highly leveled up. You also have to find all these Shrines, and they are trickier to spot than the memory fragments, so you’re best off using a guide.

4 Fashionista

The Trickiest Collectible To Unlock

Value

Description

10G/Bronze

Collected all Rarity costumes.

There are two separate achievements for collecting all the costumes and all the masks. The costumes are a bit harder, with most not obtained through Shrine challenges, but they’re essentially the same thing. These collectibles took the longest time for players to figure out, but there’s a consistent method to get them.

For many levels, there will be a second or third item you can’t get through a shrine challenge. If you’ve beaten the game and are missing these, you will need to replay the level, make sure to use Blake as your companion, and cut off the human body part of the boss Slitterhead. That’ll give you the cosmetic every time.

3 Clear And Serene

The Most Repetitive Achievement

Value

Description

80G/Gold

Activated Blood Time 50 times.

By the end of your first playthrough, hell, possibly even second, you likely haven’t entered Blood Time 50 times. Blood Time is the slow-mo gameplay mechanic you get after deflecting enough attacks, and while it’s useful during the first half of the game, by the second half, you have better tools to work with.

Thankfully, there’s an amazing spot to grind this out. In Sleepless Zone RE 2nd Loop, there’s a Shrine challenge off to the left about midway through the level. This triggers a nasty boss fight in an extremely tight space, making it a perfect spot to grind out deflects and Blood Times. It’ll still take a while, but this spot is by far the best place to get this achievement.

2 Timeline Convergence

The True Ending

Value

Description

100G/Gold

Stopped Alex’s (Leopard Head’s) killing spree in the Alpha world.

Slitterhead has a very weird way of handling the ending. After defeating the final boss, you’ll get the normal ending and then be told to put your civilian casualties to 60. This will require replaying levels, ensuring people don’t die this time, or at least a few casualties. If you still have collectibles you need to grab, now’s the time to do them, as you’ll kill two birds with one stone, getting all the collectibles while lowering your casualty count.

If you’ve already got all the collectibles, you’re probably best off replaying the big boss levels, as you can minimize the big civilian casualties there now that you’re all leveled up. This process is a lot harder in Nightmare mode, where enemies do more damage, and you must get the true ending to obtain the hardest achievement.

1 Apex Hyoki Legend

The One Large Barrier In The Achievement List

Value

Description

100G/Gold

Cleared on Nightmare or higher difficulty.

Unfortunately, you must beat the entirety of Slitterhead in Nightmare mode, which means starting from a New Game. Unlike a title like Wanted: Dead, which you can beat in a day, Slitterhead has a much longer campaign, making multiple playthroughs a bigger hassle for achievement/trophy hunters.

At this point, you should know all the memory fragment locations so you can level up as quickly as possible. Also, make sure to get Betty as soon as you can, as she’s the best Rarity in the game, and both of these will make Nightmare much easier. You’ll still need to play well with the title’s action RPG hybrid gameplay, however, and it’s not like maxing out your character will give you a free pass.
