Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster Shadows Drops On Steam, And It’s Already On Sale

Sure, Kingdom Hearts arriving on Steam is exciting, but we're all over that now, right? Well, Bandai Namco is certainly hoping so. The studio decided to shadow-drop Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster on Steam on Monday night. Yes, that's right, the collection of games originally released on GameCube that came to Nintendo Switch is now playable on PC. Not only that, but for a limited time you can get the collection for less on Steam with a bonus you can't get elsewhere.

Bandai is celebrating the Baten Kaitos remaster's arrival on Steam by cutting its price by ten percent, meaning it's $44.99 instead of the $49.99 it will usually be once it returns to full price. Well, not returns as it has never been full price on Steam, but you know what I mean. The collection also comes with a digital art book provided you buy it before July 17, 2024.

The collection includes remastered versions of both Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, and the prequel that came three years later despite poor sales for the original, Baten Kaitos Origins. The series laid dormant until its remasters were released on Switch last year, but today is a particularly significant one for Baiten Kaitos as the remastered collection's arrival on Steam marks the first time in the series' history that it has been available to play on a non-Nintendo platform.

For those who haven't played the games since they were on GameCube, the remasters do more than just upscale the graphics. The menus have been overhauled, the games now have an auto-save feature, and there's even New Game+. Bandai has also added six new modes to the game, one of which gives you the option to avoid encounters, while another adjusts the speed of the game. Now available on both Switch and Steam, and for ten percent less on the latter when you buy the Month One edition.

If you're not over Kingdom Hearts being on Steam yet, yes, that's now available through the storefront too. Much like Baten Kaitos, there's a version of Kingdom Hearts on Steam that gets you something you can't get elsewhere. If you buy the Integrum Masterpiece, you get a platform-exclusive Keyblade. You also get the Steam Keyblade when buying Kingdom Hearts 3 all by itself if you already own the games on other platforms and don't fancy buying all of them again just for a Keyblade.
