Call Of Duty Reportedly Will Bring Back Verdansk In 2025 After Fortnite OG Popularity

If you're one of the many Call of Duty Warzone fans hoping to see the return of Verdansk, then you're in luck. That's because Verdansk is set to return to the mode. The problem is, it's going to take a little bit longer than most would probably like. `

According to information from Call of Duty dataminer BobNetworkUK, which was then corroborated by Tom Henderson of Inside Gaming, Verdansk will be added back to Warzone in early 2025. It was reportedly slated for December of this year, but that target date has seemingly been missed. That's because, according to Henderson, adding Verdansk back to Warzone was never part of Activision's original plans. No.

Activision Wants To Replicate The Success Of Fortnite OG

Instead, Activision reportedly pivoted to reshaping Verdansk due to the successful re-release of Fortnite OG. For the uninitiated, Fortnite OG saw the re-release of the original map from when the game first launched and became a smashing success. That initiative proved to be a major win for Epic Games, as the release of Fortnite OG led to the single most successful day in the game's history.

According to Epic, over 44.7 million players logged in on November 4, and they totaled 102 million hours of play time. That figure was large enough to outbeat the Travis Scott event, which was no slouch, either, having drawn in over 12.3 million players.

As Henderson notes in his reporting, Activision wants to repeat that metric, or at least come as to it as possible. That's why there was a late pivot toward making Verdansk a part of Call of Duty Black Ops 6's window. That said, the push to re-add Verdansk means that the planned 2024 Warzone map, which is apparently codenamed "Avalon," will also be pushed back to compensate.

"Avalon" will now coincide with the 2025 Call of Duty release, which is labeled as "Saturn," per Henderson. Not much is known about Call of Duty's 2025 installment, though it's rumored to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2. Its multiplayer will seemingly pull heavily from the past, with the "Pick-10" system slated for return. In addition, Black Ops 2's multiplayer maps will reportedly receive the remastered treatment, according to previous information. That game will now get "Avalon," which is reportedly near complete.

It's no secret that Fortnite OG was a resounding success, so it'll be interesting to see if the return to Verdansk even touches that. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will launch on October 25, and it's already been confirmed that "Carry Forward" won't be part of the game's multiplayer component, though it'll remain in place for Warzone. Elsewhere, the game will not depict the September 11 terrorist attacks in any way, and its campaign will require a constant internet connection.
