Psychopaths are the boss encounters of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and will place you in unique and strange encounters that can be excruciatingly challenging to overcome or relatively trivial if you show up prepared. You will also almost always receive excellent rewards and opportunities for defeating them, so they’re worth seeking out.
And Sean Keanan is one of these examples, as he is the leader of True Eye, the Raincoat Cult you likely see wandering around the mall and giving you a hard time. Though an optional Psychopath, we strongly recommend eliminating Sean Keanan if you want to get rid of these Cultists for good!
How To Find Sean Keanan
When the clock strikes midnight and the third day of the outbreak has begun, Otis will call Frank West and warn him about a ‘group gathered in Colby’s Movieland that are wearing matching masks.‘ After receiving this call, the Scoop ‘A Strange Group‘ will become active for you to track.
You will have until 10am to complete this Scoop before it expires, so we recommend trying to knock this encounter out as soon as possible. So, gear up and head into Colby’s Movieland, fight through the Raincoat Cultists, and enter Cinema 4 to trigger a cutscene and begin the battle with Sean Keanan.
Sean Keanan has five Survivors captured, so you may have to rescue A LOT of them before this Scoop appears for you. There can only be eight Survivors in the mall at any given time, so if there are even four left somewhere in the mall, this Scoop will not appear until you either save them or murder them. We advise against killing them, as you will lose out on valuable PP.
How To Defeat Sean Keanan
Prior to throwing yourself into the Cultists’ nest, you must first prepare yourself, which you can do by gathering a Katana, Submachine Gun, and three jugs of Orange Juice from Paradise Plaza. These items should be more than enough, but if you think you may need a bit more firepower, there’s nothing wrong with snagging a second SMG from the fountain in Al Fresca Plaza.
Sean's Moves
Sean Keanan has a decent amount of moves compared to most of the other Psychopaths in the game, which can make him a bit tricky to deal with. However, if you head into his arena prepared, you can best him in no time!
His most annoying attack is his Slide Tackle, having him swiftly run toward you before performing a far-reaching slide that will knock you over and deal decent amounts of damage. It’s the hardest move to telegraph, so just keep an eye out for a faint white smoke around his legs, then prepare to dodge away from it as he approaches.
Staying up and personal with him will limit his actions, allowing you to get several hits on him with your Katana for sizeable damage. However, he will perform a Jumping Slash that can easily be evaded by running or rolling toward him, sending him leaping past you and opening him up for more attacks.
He will also perform a Charging Slash, where he will lower his Sword and hunch over before quickly sprinting toward you, delivering a devastating rising slash that deals lots of damage. The moment you see him hunch over, be prepared to roll either to the left or right when he gets to evade the move altogether.
There will be many openings for you to land several hits with your Katana or Submachine, so just be patient. If he whiffs any of his big attacks, you can typically carve lots of his health away. Be mindful of the Survivors in the room, too, as you don’t want to kill or anger them!
Rewards For Defeating Sean Keanan
Defeating Sean Keanan will give you access to his Ceremonial Sword, the Movieland Warehouse Key, and the Brainwashing Tips Book. The Ceremonial Sword and Brainwashing Tips Book will be permanent spawns in this room if you ever want to retrieve them again in the future.
BEFORE you free the survivors, go to the entrance of Cinema 4 to find a massive crowd of Raincoat Cultists. Eliminate all of them before rescuing any of the Survivors, as they could easily be wiped out by their bombs.
With the Raincoat Cultists defeated, untie the Survivors from the chairs and use the Movieland Warehouse Key to unlock the door to the left of the Stage to find Cheryl, the fifth Survivor of the group. From here, just guide them safely back to the Security Room to get a massive amount of PP, likely leveling you up again!
