Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

The newest Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, is finally out and making noise all around social media. People expected a lot of action, blood, and cameos, and they got bucket loads of all three things during the movie’s runtime.

While we all expected some characters to show up, maybe some treats from the MCU, the number of people showing up ended being staggeringly high. This ended up being for FOX what Spider-Man: No Way Home was for Sony, making most fans wonder if any of these characters might make a comeback in the near future.

Spoilers For Deadpool & Wolverine!

8 X-23

“My Name Is Laura”

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Dafne Keen comes back as Laura, Wolverine’s kinda daughter from the movie Logan. We already kind of saw her in some of the latest trailers, but she still works as an emotional anchor aiding a new Wolverine in finding his path.

The surprise factor might be low with her, but her relevance to the plot is still felt. In that final dining scene with this new Logan, we can’t help but wonder how she sees him: as a replacement for the father figure that died, or just as a down-on-his-luck uncle that could use a hug.

7 Happy Hogan

Just Happy To Be Here

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan is a character that has appeared in so many MCU movies that, by this point, he could work as the new Nick Fury assembling a team of Avengers. Too bad he doesn’t remember Peter anymore, otherwise we’d have someone to introduce the web-slinger to the merc with a mouth.

Some fans are a little sad that Deadpool only gets to meet Happy, with no other major character from the MCU making an appearance. Yet the scene where they meet is an excellent one, and it might set the stage for how Deadpool finally enters, even if briefly, the main sacred timeline.

6 B-15

The New Administrator Of The TVA

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Wunmi Mosaku comes back as B-15, but she only shows up at the tail end of the movie. While we know multiple characters from the TVA, the only one making a comeback is B-15, although after the events of the Loki show, she has risen as a figure of distinct authority.

The Loki show and all its characters already exist outside the MCU in a way, so any of them would have been a perfect fit to appear in the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. We don’t know if we’ll see more of Deadpool in the MCU, but B-15 is likely to show up in future movies as the one mopping up any multiverse stragglers.

5 Elektra

No Daredevil In Sight

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Jennifer Garner comes back as Elektra, the fighter dressed in red with her iconic three-pointed daggers (or sai, as they are called). From her group of loudmouthed cameos, she serves as a needed pillar of serenity, guiding the plot forward without turning everything into a reference or a joke.

The character of Elektra might make a comeback in the upcoming Daredevil show, but the one portrayed by Jennifer Garner will likely never see the light again. This is why her character seeks a proper ending, and it was a great sendoff to one of the first super heroines that ever had their own standalone movie.

4 Gambit

The Mutant That Never Was

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Gambit is purely a comedic character in Deadpool & Wolverine, with all the jokes revolving around the character that never was. Those jokes don’t land with everyone for the very reason they are made: few remember that Channing Tatum tried to have a movie franchise start around the card-throwing mutant.

That fact makes his appearance even funnier since we all remember things like how bad X-Men Origins: Wolverine was, particularly its rendition of Deadpool, to the point that it sort of became non-canon. This means that, unlike the other characters, this Gambit comes from a universe that was deleted before it could be formed, hence why even he is confused about his origin.

3 Blade

The Day Walker

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

If there was one unexpected cameo, it was this one: Wesley Snipes returning as Blade, the half-vampire that hunts creatures of the night, and a character that had a very popular trilogy of movies. For the generation that this movie is aimed at, this reveal was the most eagerly received.

The action revolving around the vampire slayer is top-notch, even for the brief time he is on camera. There is even a gag where Blade tells Deadpool he doesn’t like him, where Deadpool replies that he never did, referencing the fact that Ryan Reynolds appeared in Blade: Trinity, playing a loudmouthed character that Blade didn’t like all that much either.

2 Johnny Storm

The Return Of Chris

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

Chris Evans once said that he would never come back as Captain America, particularly due to how stressful it is to prepare for the role of a super soldier. That doesn’t mean that he has something against returning superheroes, since he claimed it would be a possibility for him to return as the Human Torch instead, a role that has the special effects deal with most of the action scenes.

Well, it seems they took him up on that, with his cameo doing a bait-and-switch where even Deadpool is fooled into thinking he is the Captain, only to summon the flames and start flying around. He’s not in the movie for long, but it is a nice reminder that Evans is capable of playing something other than a Paladin of Justice.

1 Henry Cavill’s Wolverine

The Cavillrine

Deadpool & Wolverine: 8 Best Cameos, Ranked

As Deadpool jumps from one universe to another trying to find the perfect Wolverine, he stumbles upon one that, at first, looks just like all the rest. Yet once this one turns around, it isn’t being played by Hugh Jackman, but by Henry Cavill instead.

During the brief cameo, audiences were left hungry for more, wondering if maybe Cavill would now take up the mantle as the MCU’s official Wolverine. Well, we shouldn’t count one single cameo as proof of anything, since it already happened when John Krasinski played Reed Richards in a Doctor Strange movie, only to be “replaced” by Pedro Pascal in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
