Disney Dreamlight Valley is more fun with friends!
This article is part of a directory: Disney Dreamlight Valley: Complete Guide And Walkthrough Table of contents
Disney Dreamlight Valley is known for nostalgic characters and a touch of magic. Putting a lot of effort into your village and designs is fun, but it's more exciting to share. Aside from weekly photo competitions where you can share a glimpse of your valley, you can invite friends to join you.
The Valleyverse is the name for the multiplayer function, and it connects every player's village together in a large web of Disney-inspired adventures. While not all standard game functions are available in multiplayer, it's the perfect time to start playing with friends. Magic is more fun when you can share it with people you care about!
Updated May 4, 2024, by Zoë J. Osik: With the release of the Thrills and Frills update, Disney Dreamlight Valley Multiplayer has new features for you to enjoy with friends. As such, we've updated this guide to include those details so you can have fun visiting other valleys and seeing how creative the Disney Dreamlight Valley community can be!
How To Unlock Multiplayer
To unlock Multiplayer, you'll have to raise Vanellope to friendship level four. This will prompt her to start the Valley Visit quest and give you the Valley Visit Station.
You don't need to complete Vanellope's level four quest ; you only need to reach that friendship level.
Once you are prompted to place the Valley Visit Station, put it anywhere in your village. The quest completes and you can enable cross-play to invite friends to your village.
How To Invite Friends To Your Valley
As a host, interact with the Valley Visit Station. You can open up the connection and generate a code that you can share with friends. As a visitor, you need to access the Multiplayer option from the title screen and enter the code.
You won't be able to join without the code, so make sure your friend shares it with you!
Once you enter the code, the host will receive a notification that a new player is joining. It can take up to a few minutes for the other player to join the host valley, so be patient while Dreamlight Valley Multiplayer works its magic!
To access online features, you may need a membership that allows online multiplayer functions. Also, PlayStation users are unable to use cross-play multiplayer, but they can use multiplayer with other PlayStation users.
Up to four players at a time can be active in a world, including the valley. If you have more than three friends you want to invite to your village, you'll need to rotate them out.
What You Can Do In Multiplayer
While multiplayer is a great option to spend time with friends, you aren't able to do everything you normally can. Here is a list of all the fun things you can do in multiplayer:
- Visit Scrooge's Store. You can bring your visitors to Scrooge's Store to shop, and all players can purchase items. However, items that visitors purchase will disappear from the store, and you won't be able to order them from the catalog.
- Visit player homes. You've likely put a lot of work into your home decor, so show it off and share with your friends.
- Trade inventory items. While you can't open chests or gather items other than sticks and flowers, you can exchange items in your inventory by dropping them on the ground.
- Explore the village. You can explore the entirety of Dreamlight Valley, but not any areas included in Expansion Passes. The base game map is yours to roam and play with friends.
- Use Royal Tools. If you love fishing and gardening, now you can do it with friends! Roam the village to remove Night Thorns, harvest crops, and dig for treasures. You can now use all your Royal Tools together.
- Take Selfies. Finally, you can commemorate your co-op adventures with photos! Using your phone in-game, take pictures of the memories you make during Valley Visits.
- Share Touch of Magic Designs. Take your friends to the Boutique with you, where they can collect your designs for clothing and furniture to bring back to their village. Just be sure that you all save before they leave or the designs won't be carried over!
You cannot trade items from Expansion Passes with players who do not have the Expansion Pass.
What Can't Be Done In Dreamlight Valley Multiplayer (Yet)
There are a few things you can't do in multiplayer, and that includes talking to villagers and completing quests. Progress is paused in multiplayer, so you won't be able to help complete quests directly, but you can trade items a friend may need to help indirectly.
You also can't use the furniture menu while Valley Visits are active. Riding attractions are also unavailable, but you can still explore your valley with friends to show off all your hard work!
Despite being able to share Touch of Magic designs, you cannot access that menu while Valley Visits are active.
