It’s time to get creative.
Dozens of iconic Disney and Pixar characters appear in Disney Dreamlight Valley, including the very special Oswald! Befriending them takes time and effort, but rewards you with unique outfits, motifs, and furniture. It's worth investing in your villagers to better express yourself.
However, some villagers require more work than others, and Oswald is one of these lucky few. Part of welcoming Oswald to the village is building him a proper home! You'll have to progress through much of Act II of the A Rift In Time Expansion Pass, and you'll need to find a way to communicate effectively so you can become friends.
How To Communicate With Oswald
After completing the Spark of Imagination quest, Oswald will be wandering around Eternity Isle. Speak to him to start this quest and try to find a way to communicate.
He'll imply that you need to dress like him to better understand each other. You'll need to wear the following items to complete this objective:
- Oswald's Fedora
- A black shirt
- White pants
You'll get the fedora from Oswald as part of the quest. It's very stylish!
Once you're dressed, speak to Oswald. The next activity involves collecting flowers – but only black and white ones, of course. You'll need eight of them in total.
You don't have to pick brand-new flowers – any that you have in storage will do just fine! Once you have the flowers, bring them to Oswald. He seems frustrated and leads you to the secret area behind the waterfall on The Docks.
He gestures for you to – literally – break the communication barrier with your Royal Pickaxe. Shatter the barrier and then try to talk with Oswald outside. It should be much easier!
How To Build Oswald's House
Now that you can communicate clearly with Oswald, he shares that he needs you to draw his house. Unlike other villagers, you'll need to craft Oswald's Pencil to draw it yourself.
You won't actually be drawing the house, but you need the pencil.
Oswald instructs you to gather the following resources for building the Oswaldian Pencil:
- Tropical Wood (15)
- Amber (1)
- Coal (10)
Take the materials to the nearest Crafting Station, put them all together, and then equip your new accessory to get into art mode. Then go check in with Oswald to get the template for his house. Open the furniture menu and place Oswald's house.
It looks a little flat at first, but that's what it's supposed to look like for now.
Once you've found the perfect place, talk to Oswald again to see what else needs to be done.
Where To Get 3D Glasses
Oswald wants to add depth to his house, and the best way to do that is with 3D glasses. Thankfully, it seems that Scrooge McDuck has some for sale. You'll have to shell out 1,050 Star Coins for the glasses, but it's worth it to make Oswald comfortable.
While you can technically buy the glasses before this quest, it's a known bug that can prevent you from proceeding with the quest!
Purchase the glasses from Scrooge's catalog, then interact with the sign outside Oswald's house. You'll bring Oswald's home into the third dimension and complete the quest.
You've now fully unlocked Oswald and can increase your friendship with him!
