The right Attributes can make all the difference.
Stats and attributes are the most basic part of your battle strategy for Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes. If you want to effectively take down enemies, you'll need to have the right characters use the right attacks for the most damage.
These aren't hard to grasp, but given this game is a love letter to JRPGs and the Suikoden series in particular, it assumes you can intuit how stats and attributes work without outright telling you things. This can be dangerous because the wrong rune equipped on a character can tank your damage output, and a party build that doesn't account for things like Dexterity and Luck can leave you vulnerable.
What Are Your Stats In Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes
Every character has seven stats to keep track of. Some of them, like Physical Defense and Magic, are pretty intuitive, but stats like Dexterity and Luck are less so. Here are all the stats in order and what they're used to calculate:
Stat |
Use |
---|---|
Power |
Determines damage dealt with physical attacks |
Magic |
Determines damage dealt with magic attacks |
Dexterity |
Determines odds of an attack hitting |
Speed |
Determines how soon you attack in a turn |
Physical Defense |
Determines damage received from physical attacks |
Magic Defense |
Determines damage received from magic attacks |
Luck |
Determines odds of landing or receiving a critical hit |
What Are Physical Attributes In Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes?
There are five physical attributes in the game: slash, thrust, blunt, grapple, and aerial. These don't interact with each other the way magical attributes do. However, they do interact with certain types of enemies.
You'll want to use aerial attacks on flying enemies like the Hraesvelger, while blunt attacks damage enemy Armor and grapple attacks ignore enemy armor completely.
What Are Magical Attributes in Eiyuden Chronicles?
As the name suggests, Magical Attributes deal magic damage. They also ignore foes' Armor and can deal extra damage to certain enemies.
The six types of magic are Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Light and Dark. Water beats Fire, Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Earth, and Earth beats Water. Meanwhile, Light and Dark are both effective against each other.
Characters can learn new spells by equipping different runes, but each character has different levels of affinity with each element.
If it's an element they're good with, then the damage is boosted, and if it's an element they're bad with, the damage is reduced significantly. For example, if you gave Mellore a rune tied to Dark magic, she pretty much won't do any damage.
The game doesn't outright tell you what a character or enemy's affinities are, so you have to determine them by trial and error.
