Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree adds many new Incantations that work well with a build that scales on Faith. Some of these Incantations are fairly easy to get and can be obtained by following the story, while others are challenging to find and require you to go out of your way to explore in tough dungeons till you locate them.
The Knight’s Lightning Spear is part of the Dragon Cult category of Incantations and is definitely a must-have, as it can deal a fair amount of Lightning damage while also tracking your target opponent, giving you an upper hand in combat.
How To Get Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation
The Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation can be found in Scorpion River Catacombs, which you can visit after defeating Rellana and gaining access to the Scadu Atlas region. To reach this dungeon, you’ll have to take the tunnel northeast of Moorth Ruins and travel across the poison swamp to reach the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace.
From there, keep heading southwest till you come across the river. If you keep following the river, you’ll eventually end up at the Scorpion River Catacombs.
Once inside Scorpion River Catacombs, you’ll have to start from the Site of Grace and move into the room right in front of you. Kill the Bigmouth imp in the room and head left downstairs. There, you’ll find another imp right before the bridge, kill it, and move forward onto the bridge.
You’ll notice a Basilisk Statue right above the bridge that will inflict you with Deathblight if you stay in its sight. Quickly dash forward through the bridge and dodge the imp that tries to attack you. Once you’re out of sight of the Basilisk Statue and its eyes, you can take out the imp and head further downstairs.
Make sure you have enough Rejuvenating Boluses, as it is the quickest way to get rid of the Deathblight buildup.
Once downstairs, an imp will be waiting to ambush you to your right. Kill it and continue moving forward. You’ll come across a large room with an imp hiding to your left. Head straight into the room after killing it and proceed downstairs. There, an imp will be waiting to attack you on your right.
Proceed further ahead, and you’ll reach a large room with a Bigmouth imp hiding to your right. Kill it and continue moving forward. You’ll find a narrow passage in front of you and stairs leading downstairs to the right. Head downstairs, but don’t step into the room, as there is a spike trap above. Wait for it to fall down first before you move ahead, as getting caught up in it can damage you greatly.
If you continue moving further, you’ll come across a large hallway with three Messmer Soldiers waiting at the other end of the hallway. Be wary of the spike trap above. Here, you have to head to the safe space to your right as soon as the spike trap falls and then start to go back up again.
You’ll find a ladder here. Climb it and quickly hide in the safe space to your left to avoid getting Deathblighted by the Basilisk Statue. From here, there are two ways to reach the Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation.
You can use the Mimic’s Veil item to cross the bridge safely and walk across the path to the room’s left side to reach the room right next to the Basilisk Statue. Or, you can head straight to the corner, jump over the fence, and wait for the spike trap to fall down. As the spike trap is going back up, jump on it.
Once you’re on the spike trap, you can go to its maximum height and then fall to the area on your left to get the Imp’s Head (Lion) equipment. Now, jump over the trap again and wait for it to go down. Then, jump right next to the Basilisk Statue.
Head into the room right next to the Basilisk Statue. The Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation is right in front of you as you head into the room, guarded by two imps. Kill them and pick the Incantation from the corpse.
Knight’s Lightning Spear Overview
Knight’s Lightning Spear Incantation requires 36 Faith and costs 29 FP to cast. This spell can be charged and has a decent range. Once cast, the spear will strike the target, and even if it misses, the rest of the lightning spear projectiles will track the target. We recommend using this Incantation in multiplayer as it can catch people rolling away from you, as well as the players trying to heal at a distance.
Charging the Incantation creates additional projectiles and also strikes your target with a lightning bolt when they’re hit by fully-charged projectiles, that also staggers your enemy. The Incantation can be further strengthened by using the Gravel Stone Seal, which boosts all Dragon Cult Incantations by 15%.
