Elden Ring continues the Tarnished's epic journey with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, welcoming a host of incredible new bosses to fight. Jori, Elder Inquisitor is a new boss with a unique reward you'll want to hunt down during your run through Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Jori is an optional boss, so you might miss this fight if you don't seek out Jori in the Darklight Catacombs. Though Jori is not a Remembrance boss, this fight is one of the most mechanically satisfying in the Shadow of the Erdtree, so it won't be nearly as frustrating as some others, like Commander Gaius.
Where Is Jori, Elder Inquisitor?
Jori, Elder Inquisitor is the final boss located at the end of the Darklight Catacombs dungeon at the beginning of the Abyssal Woods area.
The map can be confusing to navigate, so hunt down the Shadow of the Erdtree map fragment locations to better understand the terrain.
From the Darklight Catacombs Site of Grace, you'll need to navigate through the dark tunnels to progress down a set of lifts.
After you descend the first lift and set of stairs, you must continue to descend along the stone path to reach the second lift.
Take this lift further down, then head through the archway where you will find another ladder leading down. Light up the area by pulling the lever at the end of the path.
Turn around from the lever and take the set of stone paths (first left, then right) to the final lift.
At the bottom of the lift, head straight to the final approach and enter the large boss area where you will find Jori, Elder Inquisitor.

Here are three key tips to defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor in the Abyssal Woods.
When damaged, Jori will teleport around the arena, creating space and opportunities for Jori's summons to help their master.
Avoid Jori's Ranged Attacks
Firstly, Jori will throw four types of ranged attacks at you:
- Multiple, small crescent slash attacks that deal Holy damage.
- One, larger crescent slash that moves toward you more slowly than the smaller ones.
- Three crescents that spread out toward you in a cone pattern.
- A ground-based attack spell that spawns under your feet.
Dodge the smaller attacks in rapid succession, or just keep running to avoid their homing.
the distance as quickly as possible to avoid these attacks altogether and take a few swings at the boss.
Use Cover
Since it's not always feasible to be aggressive during this fight, use the gravestones scattered around the arena as cover.
The larger stone coffin to the left side of the arena is big enough to crouch behind and avoid the slash attacks entirely.
Unfortunately, you cannot use this area to avoid the ground spells; don't trap yourself and keep moving.
Fight Summons With Summons
Bring the Mimic Tear Ashes or your choice of summon to combat the two types of summons Jori will throw at you:
- A group of summons that look like Jori.
- One large summon who spews Holy breath across the battlefield.
With both you and your Mimic hitting Jori, their poise will break quickly, giving you ample opportunities to damage the boss.
If you prefer to use ranged tactics, a Mimic Tear is the perfect distraction to ensure Jori isn't aiming attacks at you while you're setting up.
Use these tips and stay as aggressive as possible, and you will defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor quickly.
