With the launch of Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion, two new job roles have been added to the game, Viper and Pictomancer. If you want to get those creative juices flowing and unleash your inner painter, the Ranged Magical DPS Pictomancer role is for you. Plus, it has a cute outfit. Double win.
If you're getting ready to set sail for Tural and you want to unlock Pictomancer ASAP, fortunately for you, you can unlock in one of the base areas and don't have to wait until you actually arrive on those distant shores. Here's everything you need to know.
Where To Find The 'The Joy of Pictomancy' Quest
To unlock Pictomancer, you have to complete the quest 'The Joy of Pictomancy', which can be obtained by speaking with Cheerless Hearer in Old Gridania at (X:8.0, Y:10.3)
You must be on a Disciple of War or Magic job that is Level 80 or above to start this quest.
After accepting the quest, head to New Gridania and interact with the Destination spot at (X:11:0, Y:11.3) for a cutscene where you learn about the job and Relm (a great reference for FF fans).
Next, go to (X:12.3, Y:13.1) to speak with Kupopo about your interview and answer the questions however you like.
After the interview, speak with Kupopo again at (X:12.3, Y:13.1) to complete the quest and receive your Soul of the Pictomancer, Weathered Painter's Attire Coffer, and Weathered Round Brush.
How Do I Learn The Pictomancer Basics?
Once you've switched roles to Pictomancer, you can immediately take up the next quest, 'Mind over Manor' from Kupopo at (X:12.3, Y:13.1) in New Gridania.
This quest is a tutorial for the job role.
Return to Old Gridania and speak to the Cheerless Hearer at (X:8.0, Y:10.3) for a cutscene, before heading to (X:11.7, Y:4.4) to speak with Kupopo again to put your Pictomancer skills to the test and teach you about Motifs.
Once you're done learning the basics, speak with Kupopo to proceed, then follow them down to the next level and speak with them again to learn about the Palette Gauge.
Continue progressing through and take on the Spriggan to showcase everything you've learned.
Once the duty is complete and you're back in Old Gridania, speak with Kupopo at (X:11.8, Y:4.5) to complete the quest.
Where Do I Get The Next Pictomancer Role Quest?
Your next job role quest will be given by Kupopo in Old Gridania at (X:11.8, Y:4.5) at Level 83.
