Need help making a marketplace in Manor Lords? Here, we are going to take a look at how to efficiently manage your village’s market.
The marketplace is the central hub of any village in Manor Lords. Here, your villagers will be able to buy and sell goods, which count towards the requirements to upgrade a burgage plot. Your market isn't as simple as it looks though, so you may need some help getting things to run smoothly.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at setting up and managing your marketplace. This will also cover how to adequately provide all the necessary resources to each burgage plot. If requirements are not met, your burgage plots will begin to lose approval, which isn't ideal.
Manor Lords is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.
How To Make A Market
To make a marketplace, head to the Residential tab of the construction menu. From here, you can simply select the marketplace option, which allows you to set the four corners of the area (similar to placing a burgage plot or field).
When the marketplace area is designated, you're done! Villagers will begin to open up stalls here; you don't have to manage the stalls that appear.
Who Can Set Up A Stall?
Families assigned to various jobs can open stalls. These families will sell their goods while also working the job.
For example, above, you can see that we've clicked on the Apiary. When looking at the family assigned, you can see a little stall icon. This means that in addition to working, the family owns a marketplace stall.
The Marketplace, Granary, And Storehouse
The marketplace, Granary, and Storehouse are a bit dependent on each other when it comes to the distribution of goods. The Storehouse holds things like firewood, planks, and clothes, while the Granary holds food items.
Once these items are in their storage building, someone needs to sell them; this someone is a family worker that you've assigned to the building. So, in order to efficiently sell the goods that you gather, you will need to assign workers to the Storehouse and Granary.
With assigned families, they will begin to open stalls in the marketplace, selling goods that are stored in each building.
Marketplace Supply And Demand
Every burgage plot needs certain items depending on the level. You can see these requirements below.
Housing Level |
Requirements (Related to Marketplace) |
---|---|
1 |
1x Fuel 2x Food 1x Clothing |
2 |
1x Fuel 3x Food 2x Clothing |
3 |
1x Fuel 4x Food 2x Clothing |
When clicking on the marketplace, you can check out the variety of goods that are being sold. In our marketplace, we have 82 percent fuel, which equates to 32 firewood. There is much more firewood in storage so in this situation, so we definitely need to add more workers to the storehouse to sell the excess wood.
The goal is 100 percent coverage. This means that everyone in the village has all the marketplace goods that they need.
How To Provide Goods To Every Plot
To get a more detailed version of the supply, hover over one of the three vending options. For example, when hovering over the fuel supply, you can see which burgage plots have either charcoal or firewood. In our case, there are a few houses on the outskirts of the village that have no fuel. How do you fix this though?
With the Foreign Suppliers development point unlocked, you can add bread and firewood carts that passively create and sell these items if you have enough regional wealth.
Items are not distributed to every plot evenly. While it's not quite based on proximity, it may seem like it. Your villagers will 'visit' the marketplace and return home with their goods. So, if the village lives r, they can make it to the market quicker.
There is no 'range' for the marketplace . If the area is far away from town, it can still provide goods to burgage plots. Of course, we suggest keeping it to your village; especially the Granary and Storehouse.
Can You Build Multiple Markets?
While it's possible to build multiple markets, it may not be worth the space if you don't have enough resources/workers to begin with. As mentioned above, the marketplace isn't based on proximity. If there are enough goods for the village, everyone will be satisfied.
Adding a second marketplace won't appease plots that are far away. The root of the problem is that you need more goods.
We've noticed that inspecting the supply from two different marketplaces yields the same results. If you want to place a second marketplace, go for it, but just know that this may not help provide more goods to your villagers. Markets can be nice 'filler' areas to add more life to your village though; if you are going for aesthetics, place as many markets as you want!
