There’s no need to try and gather every single resource yourself.
Trading is an extremely useful mechanic in Manor Lords, as it allows you to bring in essential resources required for a specific production chain or the well-being of your villagers. Not all resources are readily available in your initial settlement, and trading lets you import goods you can’t produce yourself.
Besides that, trading is an excellent way to sell your surplus goods and generate a steady income – which will ultimately help you build a thriving village. Whatever the case is, establishing a Trade Route will secure your village’s economy. In this guide, we’ve covered everything you need to know about setting up Trade Routes in Manor Lords.
How To Set Up A Trade Route
Trade Routes are designated pathways for importing and exporting certain goods in Manor Lords. While Minor Trades do not require established trade routes, Major Trades can only be facilitated through a Trade Route.
Before establishing a Trade Route, you need to build a Trading Post (for trading regular goods) or a Livestock Trading Post (for trading livestock, like sheep and ox). Place your building in the center of your settlement, where it has access to plenty of roads. For a functional Trade Route, your Trading Post must be connected to the King’s Road.
You can use the road tool to connect the Trading Post in your settlement to the King’s Road.
After building the Trading Post, assign a worker to handle the trades. Next, click on the building and select the Trade tab. Here, you’ll see a list of all the items you can trade, including food items, crafting materials, commodities, etc.
To initiate a Major Trade, you will need to purchase a special Trade Route by clicking on the small wagon icon next to the item you wish to trade. If you have enough Regional Wealth, the route will be set up, and a traveling merchant will visit your town every month to import/export that particular item.
Make sure to set your Desired Surplus using the plus and minus signs and change your Trade Rule from “No Trade” to “Import, Export, or Full Trade.”
You can use the eye icon to track your trade network and be notified whenever a trader comes to your settlement.
