Palworld: How To Get Astegon

Palworld features a wide variety of exciting creatures known as Pals, which you can catch and strong-arm into doing your bidding. While some Pals are adept at combat, others excel at base-related tasks. However, only a few Pals, like Astegon, can combine the best of both worlds.

This intimidatingly powerful Dragon/Dark element Pal can not only function as a mount but also aids in Ore mining ventures. Obtaining one, however, poses a significant challenge due to its rarity, but it's not entirely impossible. With a little bit of patience and by playing your cards right, you can easily add this Pal to your Paldeck.

What Kind Of Utility Can Astegon Provide

While Astegon's Black Ankylosaur partner skill allows you to ride it as a flying mount after unlocking its saddle at level 47, it is not particularly fit for that purpose as it flies at painfully slow speeds.

However, Astegon compensates for this drawback with its ability to deal increased damage to Ore deposits while mounted. Add the fact that it also stands out as the only Pal with a level four in its Mining trait, and this enables Astegon to efficiently mine all manner of rocks and ores, making it the one of the best Pals for a mining base.

Owing to its nocturnal features from the Dark type, Astegon also stays awake during the night and can continue working uninterrupted.

However, bear in mind that Pals working at night tend to lose Sanity at a much higher rate , and given Astegon's bulky size and towering stature, it also requires a high food consumption. That is why it needs to be properly looked after and fed regularly if you don't want it getting grumpy.

It also has a Handiwork level of one, making it possible for Astegon to be assigned to workbenches, albeit its working speed is very slow while crafting high quality items.

What Skills Does Astegon Learn

Astegon is also an excellent Pal for combat, boasting high attack and defense. It can learn the following seven skills as it levels up, among which you can freely choose and swap between three skills whenever needed.

Where To Find Astegon

Palworld: How To Get Astegon

Astegon Day And Night Habitats In Palworld

Astegon is a far cry from its other Dark element brethren as it can appear during daytime and nighttime at two specific locations. The first location where it is found is its only known habitat, the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, which is the isolated island towards the northeast corner of the map. Level 40 or higher Astegon can appear here in bunches of three.

You won't always find it there as Astegon is an extremely rare encounter. So, you'll have to re-roll the Pal encounters by getting as far away as you can from the island until the Pals re-spawn and an Astegon appears.

Additionally, a level 48 alpha boss variant of Astegon can also be encountered in the Destroyed Mineshaft in the volcanic region. You're going to need to find the entrance at the coordinates (-585,-422) to access the Destroyed Mineshaft. While the entrance to it is kept out of sight, you should be able to spot it after heading a little west from the Mount Obsidian Midpoint fast travel point.

Dungeons That Astegon Can Be Found In

Astegon and its Alpha boss variant do not spawn in any dungeons throughout Palworld.

Merchants That Sell Astegon

None of the merchants sell Astegon, including the Black Marketeers and Pal Merchants found in Palworld.

How To Breed Astegon

Palworld: How To Get Astegon

What Egg Does Astegon Hatch From

Astegon can hatch from a Huge Dragon Egg. A telltale sign of such eggs is their particularly large size and the pink and black patterns running across their shells.

However, as powerful and rare Pals hatch from these eggs, these are not easy to come by. While they spawn randomly throughout the map, you can increase your odds of finding one by searching for them on Mount Obsidian and the Astral Mountains, as these eggs are often perched in elevated areas.

Astegon Breeding Combinations

Breeding Astegon is a strategic way to quickly obtain this formidable Pal without having to hunt one down. So here are some breeding combinations you'll want to know about:

Parent 1

Parent 2

Resulting Offspring

Cryolinx

Helzephyr

Astegon

Grizzbolt

Relaxaurus

Astegon

  • Breeding Cryolinx with Helzephyr is by far the easiest approach to obtaining a Huge Dragon Egg containing Astegon.
  • Similarly, Astegon can also be hatched from an egg obtained by undergoing breeding between Grizzbolt and Orsek.
