Get the drop on your enemies with Sand Land’s Jump-Bot!
The Jump-Bot is a key vehicle in Sand Land. Unlike Tanks and Cars, a bipedal Jump-Bot can leap great distances and heights, letting Beelzebub explore areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. While it's primarily a utility vehicle, the Jump-Bot can also be extremely effective in combat with some clever tactics.
Once you have access to the Spino Garage and some blueprints, it's worth taking the time to keep your Jump-Bot fully upgraded with the latest tech. Your enemies won't know what hit them when you drop attacks on them from above!
Jump-Bot Weapons
The Jump-Bot uses Grenade Launchers for its primary weapon. These guns fire explosives in a low arc, dealing damage to everything caught in the blast. Hitting enemies while they're grouped together can end a fight in one shot.
Grenade Launchers have a very short range, but later you can replace them with Mortars for lobbing bombs from afar. It's worth having one of each and swapping them from the menu as needed.
Finding the model with the highest Attack is usually best, but if you can find one with an extra effect like an Incendiary Grenade Launcher, you can deal extra damage over time to enemies that survive the first salvo.
The Jump-Bot's Secondary Weapons — Machine Guns and Autocannons — are good for picking off individual enemies and hitting foes above you. Autocannons offer a bit more punch but a slower rate of fire, but since you'll be using this weapon slot for precision shots that's less of a drawback.
Jump-Bot Engine And Suspension
Jump-Bots use Parallel-Twin Engines, which have very good Boost efficiency. The vehicle's base speed is among the slowest in the game, so you'll be boosting with it a lot. In most cases, a standard engine will be enough, but if you find yourself running out of Nitro in combat, try switching to a Turbo Engine. This slightly reduces Boost speed but extends the fuel tank considerably.
Armored Legs are a great choice for the Jump-Bot, since it needs to be able to take a few hits. You'll have to sacrifice a small amount of speed, but the Jump-Bot wasn't exactly going to be winning races anyway.
Jump Bot EX Chips
Jump-Bots are versatile enough that they can benefit from nearly any EX Chip. If you're limited to just basic ones early on, a Fuel Efficiency Chip can help your boosts last longer, keeping you out of danger. Once you've leveled up the Jump-Bot significantly, try installing an Autoloader to streamline your fights.
Jump Bot Combat Strategy
The Jump-Bot has similar maneuverability to the Tank, but it's slower, less accurate, and has less armor and HP. So why use it? The Jump-Bot's strength lies in its ability to reach high ground that other vehicles can't. Some areas, like Spiral Mountain, have foes shooting at you from multiple levels, and the Jump-Bot is much more able to navigate these zones and return fire.
When you're exploring, try climbing on top of a mesa or rock outcropping to sneak up on enemies below. With the Grenade Launcher, you can lob shots over the edge to deal damage without any danger of being attacked back. If you're using a Mortar, you can weaken foes from long range before switching to the Tank to engage.
The Jump-Bot's weapons work best when you use the Aim feature.
