Learn how to use instruments in your adventures in Sea Of Thieves!
While you're sailing from island to island in Sea of Thieves, you're likely to have plenty of downtime crossing the large expanse of ocean. To alleviate your boredom and help set the mood, there are multiple instruments in the game that will allow you to play powerful songs that are suitable for every journey.
Whether you need a mournful ballad to remember your lost ship or a joyful song to keep your allies' spirits up, the instruments in Sea of Thieves are sure to help you emphasize each moment. Thankfully, there are enough instruments for everyone on your ship to participate in every song.
How To Get Instruments
Instruments are easy to get since you'll start with a base version of all of them when you create your character; to access them, you'll need to open the equipment wheel and press the 'More' prompt button until you see the instrument you want. Hover over it and release all buttons to select it.
There are four different instruments in Sea of Thieves to choose from, allowing for a strong part of each song:
- Banjo
- Concertina
- Hurdy-Gurdy
- Drum
To play the instrument, you only need to hold the 'Weapon Fire' button for as long as you want to play.
In addition to the regular skins for each instrument, you can purchase more from the Equipment Shop and certain factions once you've built up enough reputation with them. Once you have a new skin for your instrument, you can change it from the equipment chest on your ship or outside the Equipment Shop.
How To Use Instruments
To change songs, you'll need to re-open the equipment menu and press the 'Shanties' prompt button to open the song menu. Hover over the song and then let go to select it.
The song can keep up if you let go of the button, so no need to worry about falling behind or losing your place.
If you and other pirates play instruments within a certain radius of one another, the songs will sync up and allow you to play alongside your allies. This will allow for a much fuller song and can help create some truly beautiful moments while you're out on the sea.
