Here are some tips and tricks for mastering the Watcher’s Deva Form in Slay the Spire.

Slay The Spire: How To Use Deva Form

The Watcher is often considered the most complex character in Slay the Spire. As a master of stances, Watchers can quickly swap between the Wrath Stance and Calm Stance, each providing a variety of different effects. Mastering the art of Stance-dancing is key to playing the Watcher.

The Watcher has some of the most unique cards in the game, some allowing you to quickly outscale your enemy's attacks and overwhelm them deep into a battle. One of these cards is Deva Form, a Power card that can be extremely useful under the write circumstances. Below, we'll take a look at everything you need to know about using Deva Form as a Watcher.

Deva Form Card Explained

Deva Form is a Watcher Power card that has the following effect:

Ethereal. At the start of your turn, gain energy and increase this gain by 1.

Ethereal isn't a keyword you see too often, only appearing on a handful of cards in the game. If you don't play an Ethereal card on the turn it enters your hand, it will be automatically exhausted. This means you'll only have one chance to use Deva Form.

The Upgraded version of Deva Form removes the Ethereal Keyword .

Every turn after you use Deva Form, you'll gain an additional point of Energy to spend on other cards. This means the longer you spend with Deva Form active, the more Energy you'll have to spend each turn.

Tips For Using Deva Form

Deva Form can be a tricky card to use effectively. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of it.

Cheat It Out With Omniscience

The biggest drawback of Deva Form is its cost. As a 3-cost card, you'll often have to spend your entire turn playing just Deva Form, which can put you in a bad spot when you may need to do something else. If possible, the best way to play Deva Form is to get it out early using Omniscience.

Omniscience allows you to choose a card in your draw pile, then immediately play it twice and exhaust it. Since Deva Form is a Power card, you won't need to worry about it being Exhausted, and this way it will play two Deva Form, allowing you to get twice the effect.

Alternatively, you can plan to exit Calm on the same turn you play Deva Form, allowing you to take advantage of the extra energy provided upon exiting Calm form to play Deva Form and other cards.

Combine With Fasting

Fasting is a Power card that gives you three strength and three dexterity at the cost of lowering your Energy by one. However, with the scaling Energy gain of Deva Form, you'll never have to worry about Fasting's drawback, and you can instantly take advantage of a massive boost to your stats.

Works Best With X-Cost Cards

Now that you have all the Energy you could ever need, what do you spend it on? This is where X-cost cards play a huge part. Cards like Conjure Blade or Collect will have stacking effects depending on how much Energy you use to cast them.

X-Cost cards use all of your remaining Energy , so be sure to save them until after you've used other cards!

With Conjure Blade, you can generate an Expunger that deals nine damage five times for just one Energy, for example. While this may be overkill for most encounters, this can be very helpful against bosses like the Awakened One or Time Eater.
