Stardew Valley has added a lot of new things to do for both newcomers to the series and the veteran players. While the island farm will be a major attraction for most players, long-term fans of the game will be happy to know that a new Qi-related room is available on Ginger Island. The room contains a shop, a statue to help make the game harder, and a special orders board.

The special orders board has ten challenges for you to complete that will truly test your skills at the game. In return for finishing a challenge, a reward of Qi gems will be given that allows you to buy some of the most powerful items in the game.

Updated May 4, 2024 by Jacqueline Zalace: Reaching Qi's Walnut Room in Stardew Valley is quite a feat! The challenges found here remain to be rather difficult, so we've updated this guide with a few more tips to help you out. Additionally, we've included new items to Mr. Qi's stock that were added in the 1.6 update.

Accessing Qi's Walnut Room

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

Prior to completing a Qi Challenge, you will need to unlock the Walnut Room on Ginger Island. The door to the room is located on the west side of Ginger Island near the pirate's wife. It is on the side of a cliff and is easy to identify since the door is a bright purple shown in the image above.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to get into the room until you have found at least 100 golden walnuts; this is thirty fewer golden walnuts than are available in the game. Once inside the room, you can take on Qi's Challenge in Stardew Valley.

Accepting A Qi Challenge

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

Like with the original special orders board in Pelican Town, only two quests will be available to choose from each week. You can only take one quest per week, and the board will refresh on Monday, regardless of whether the player is still doing the previous week's quest or not.

It is possible to take on multiple Qi quests at the same time, but we don't recommend doing this.

Qi's Crop

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 100 Gems
  • Time Limit: 28 Days

Qi's Crop is a quest that tasks you with growing and shipping 100 Qi Fruit. The Qi Fruit is only worth a single gold, but it can be grown at any time of year. In addition, the plant takes three days to grow and is a single-harvest crop.

These fruits need to be sold in a shipping box! Selling to Pierre does not count.

Qi Fruit can be grown from Qi Beans, but these can be a bit hard to obtain. Qi Bean can be found through the following methods.

  • Breaking Geodes
  • Fishing Treasure
  • Breaking Rocks
  • Chopping Trees
  • Shaking Coconut Trees
  • Breaking Dungeon Crates

Tips

One of the best ways to quickly multiply the number of seeds you have is to use a seed maker on the first few pieces of fruit. Additionally, this challenge takes up a lot of space, which can be troublesome if you have a limited growing area on your farm. We suggest preparing by not having any crops with long growing times already planted.

A great place to complete this challenge would also be on the Ginger Island farm, as there is a lot of space for growing.

If you are struggling to get Qi Beans, we suggest shaking every coconut tree in sight. This seems to be one of the best methods to obtain the little beans.

Let's Play a Game

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 10 Gems
  • Time Limit: 7 days

Let's Play a Game is among one of the hardest challenges on the board. The request centers around the endless mode of Junimo Kart; this is a game that can be found in the saloon after you receive the Skull Key. The endless mode gives you a single life and tasks you with collecting 50,000 points in one go.

Tips

The best way to go about this challenge is by practicing the game in the regular mode and familiarizing yourself with the eight different tracks the mode runs through. Overall, there is no shortcut; you will just need to practice.

Four Precious Stones

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 40 Gems
  • Time Limit: 28 Days

Four Precious Stones simply requires four prismatic shards to be shipped out at once. These shards will need to be put in Mr. Qi's collection box.

Tips

Prismatic shards can be found the easiest by looking for mystic nodes, fighting monsters, or mining iridium. Unfortunately, this quest will only accept prismatic shards that are found when the quest is active. We suggest heading into Skull Cavern with some bombs and food to find four shards.

Qi's Hungry Challenge

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 25 Gems
  • Time Limit: 7 Days

This challenge involves taking on the skull cavern while not being able to heal yourself. Qi tasks you with making it to floor 100 in a single run without having to heal. You will only be given seven days to complete the challenge, so going into the mines on a good luck day is highly recommended.

Tips

The easiest way to complete this challenge is by using staircases to quickly move through the floor. This is especially expensive as it takes 99 stone per staircase, and you will need 99 staircases to complete the challenge. Stone can be gathered, but the fastest method is buying it all from Robin for a grand total of 980,010 gold.

Qi's Cuisine

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 25 Gems
  • Time Limit: 14 Days

Qi's Cuisine tasks you with cooking and shipping 100,000 gold worth of recipes. Only items that are fresh and cooked after the start of the challenge will count towards the total.

Tips

Unlike crops, recipes don't have a quality level to boost their value, and the most profitable recipes only sell for 500 gold.Even with the most expensive recipes, you would have to ship 200 dishes. Making triple-shot espressos is one of the quickest and cheapest ways to complete the challenge.

To get the coffee for the espressos, you can either make or buy 669 of them. This is a lot, but it's the quickest way to complete Qi's Cuisine. Alternatively, you can also buy a bunch of flour (or grow 1,667 wheat) to make bread, which sells for 60 gold.

Qi's Kindness

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 40 Gems
  • Time Limit: 7 Days

Qi's Kindness requires you to give out 50 loved gifts in seven days. There are a total of 29 villagers in the game, including Leo, who can accept two gifts a week.

Tips

Most villagers have at least one favorite item that is easy to obtain. For example, Sam loves pizza, which can just be purchased from the saloon. He is also a big fan of Cactus Fruit, which is quite common in the desert.

To complete this, we suggest picking one loved gift for each villager and getting two of them.

Extended Family

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 20 Gems
  • Time Limit: 3 Days

Extended Family is a fishing-focused quest that requires you to capture the harder versions of the five legendary fish. These five fish will be located in the spots of the regular legendaries. Below, you can learn about each fish, as well as where to find it.

Fish Name

Location

Notes

Legend II

Mountain Lake

To catch Legend II, fish from the center island toward the deepest parts of the lake.

Son of Crimsonfish

Secret Beach Pier

This area is located to the right of the main beach; to get here, you will first need to repair the small wooden bridge with 300 wood.

Radioactive Carp

Pelican Town Sewers

N/A

Glacierfish Jr.

Cindersap Forest Lake

Within the Cindersap Forest, you can cross over several wooden bridges until you come to a large island with a pointed bottom tip. Glacierfish Jr. can be fished from this tip, in the deep waters.

Ms. Angler

Pelican Town River (Northeast)

This area is located just above Joja Mart. In this river section, you will see a wooden plank bridge crossing over the water; fish from this bridge to catch Ms. Angler.

Tips

To increase the chance of catching these fish, use an iridium rod paired with bait. There is no easy way to fish, but with Deluxe Bait, you can increase the size of the fishing bar. Be sure to also use a tackle, such as the Curiosity Lure. This increases your chance of catching rare fish.

With Fishing Mastery, you can also obtain the Advanced Iridium Rod, which holds two tackles at the same time.

Danger in The Deep

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 50 Gems
  • Time Limit: 7 Days

Danger in The Deep is a Qi challenge that introduces tougher monsters to the mine and tasks you with once again reaching the bottom floor with a reset elevator. In total, this will still be 120 floors.

Tips

To quickly make your way down, use a combination of bombs and staircases. Also, be sure to go on a good luck day and bring a strong weapon.

Completing this challenge will unlock the Shrine of Challenge .

Skull Cavern Invasion

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are

  • Reward: 40 Gems
  • Time Limit: 7 Days

Skull Cavern Invasion follows the same logic as Danger in The Deep. The cavern's monsters are now more powerful, and you will need to make it to level 100. This needs to be done in seven days, but the increased difficulty allows you to get a chance to get some of the rare items.

Tips

Skull Cavern has tougher monsters, so you should bring even more food with you and plenty of staircases. It's important to keep in mind that, unlike the Mines, you will need to start from the first floor each time you enter Skull Cavern.

Qi's Prismatic Grange

Stardew Valley: Every Qi Challenge and What Their Rewards Are
