Let the thought of your favorite thing make you ever more powerful.
When you’re first getting started on a new playthrough of Stardew Valley, there’s a lot to consider on the character customization screen! Though things like your farm’s name and what you call your character are more straightforward, the option to name your “favorite thing” feels a bit peculiar.
As you progress through the game, you’ll come across gems, Stardrops, that help make your farmer even more powerful. When you find each of the seven, their dreamy taste reminds your character of something happy, like what you chose when you made them. Here’s what your favorite thing in Stardew Valley does.
You Think Of Your Favorite Thing When You Get Stardrops
When you first make your farmer in Stardew Valley, there are plenty of neat ways to game the game on the character creation screen. The naming glitch is a long-known cheat, which may lead players to hope for the same when it comes to choosing their Favorite Thing.
Your "Favorite Thing" is the third custom text line when you create your farmer, after you've given them a name and established your farm's title. What you choose as your favorite thing is completely up to you.
You're free to get as creative here as you'd like, since you'll really only consider your favorite thing when finding Stardrops, mystical little gems that imbue your farmer with more power to boost your daily health and stamina limits. They can be obtained in all kinds of odd places, ranging from being purchased outright at the Stardew Valley Fair to more demanding tasks like reaching the bottom of the Mines in Pelican Town.
Outside of this, your farmer's favorite thing does not impact anything in terms of your actual gameplay.
There are seven Stardrops to collect as you play Stardew Valley and two different text options relating to your favorite thing when you eat them, meaning you'll think of whatever you chose for your favorite thing in Stardew Valley fairly often. Generally, though, it's just a nice little personal touch added to make each playthrough feel a bit different.
For different dialogue when you find your Stardrops, though, consider listing either Stardew Valley or ConcernedApe as your favorite thing — both have their own unique flavor text as a fun Easter egg !
