Tekken 8: King Guide

Tekken 8 is the embodiment of player expression, offering characters that specialize in all sorts of various and unique fighting styles that range from the more traditional martial arts to professional wrestling to even ninjutsu and essentially everything in between.

And, if the professional wrestling archetype has piqued your interest, look no further than King to scratch that itch of yours. King is one of the most popular fighting game characters of all time and is back and better than ever in Tekken 8. While his extensive Move List may seem daunting to newcomers, he is one of the more accessible and exhilarating options in the game!

King Overview

Tekken 8: King Guide

Despite King having the longest Move List in Tekken 8, he is one of the most accessible characters in the game, making him one of the best choices for newcomers. While he has access to many grabs and unique abilities, you can get far by only utilizing a fraction of what's available to him, which is what makes him so approachable in the first place. If you love professional wrestling and grapplers, King is screaming your name.

King has access to two unique Stances, so you don't have to worry too much about learning tons of different Stances and the abilities that become available within them. While they are crucial to his playstyle, they aren't overly complex to learn and will become second nature the more you play and practice with him.

Overall, King shouldn't pose too much of a challenge, especially in the early goings, when other players will undoubtedly struggle to learn how to tech and counter your grabs and suffocating pressure. If King interests you at all, you should find him rewarding, fun to learn, and easy to understand—a perfect blend if you ask us!

King Tips And Tricks

Tekken 8: King Guide

Lastly, our main event of the guide will focus on a few more tips and tricks you can utilize to better your play as King. As stated earlier in the guide, King has access to many moves but is simultaneously straightforward and very beginner-friendly, which is the best of both worlds and enables you to quickly understand and familiarize yourself with the game's many systems and mechanics!

At match start, one of the best openers in the game belongs to King and his f 2, 1, which had him toss out a Mid, then High Attack in quick succession. If this hits, you will instantly trigger a Heat Engager, placing King in tremendous advantage to run wild with his offense and suffocating pressure. There's almost no downside to this in the early ranks, so we cannot recommend using it enough!

Furthermore, f 2, d 1 is also an exceptionally strong move for King, enabling him to confirm the hit into one of his many Launchers, giving him access to a full combo with a relatively fast and safe move. We strongly suggest using both of these moves frequently, alongside the ones highlighted above, to apply King's unique and devastating offense online!
