Thank Goodness You're Here is as pint-sized as the protagonist itself, and presents a very palatable two-hour adventure across the fictional town of Barnsmouth, filled with sidesplitting moments at every turn. But just as there are plenty of jokes to catch on to, there are also many achievements that you can easily miss.
One of those achievements is called Friends of the Forest, and it involves listening to all the Woodland Creatures. These are not some spooky creatures but rather the prattling critters hidden so well you'll want to slap everything you come across to make them appear. Here's where to find them.
Where To Find The Woodland Creatures
There are many animals you'll come across, but not all of them count toward unlocking the achievement. The Woodland Creatures are, in fact, only those animals that can talk in the game and are not involved in story progression.
The Singing Mice
The singing mice are a cheeky trio that put on an impromptu concert when you give the trash can and its two neighboring trash bags a good slap in quick succession. They pop up in the following three places:
- In the starting town squarenear the gardener who asks you to mow the lawn.
- By the dumpster adjacent to Marge's Chippo on Bumberly Road (West).
- In the market district, head a little south of the florist, and you'll find them on a bench.
You only need to hear their performance once for the Friends of the Forest achievement, but if you interact with them in these three instances, you'll also collect The Rat Pack achievement.
The Mole
The mole is found in Bumsworth Square, to the right of Dr. Bumbum's statue, in a bald patch of soil. You'll need to play a quick game of Whac-A-Mole by slapping the dirt mound three times to make him pop up from the soil.
The Mole will invite you to his underground home . When you pass through the underground tunnel for the third time (near the end game), he'll reappear, and that's when you'll also earn the Mole Supper achievement .
The Town Vole
This cheeky rodent jokingly introduces himself as the fridge stoat and can be found inside Mother Megg's Buttery Goods bakery. This shop is located in the western portion of the town square, but it is initially locked because Collin, being the dolt he is, has lost the keys to it. For the shop to open up, you'll need to fetch Ronny the locksmith from the pub.
Once you're able to step inside the bakery, help yourself to the freezer room, and hit the cardboard box labeled "Gloria's Whole Wheat". The Town Vole will appear from this box.
The Owl
There is an owl you can find inside a tree in the barn area south of Bumberly Road (East), and he'll share some of his worthless wisdom with you. To reach the barn, you'll need to restore the water supply to the gardener's hose. Upon returning to the garden for a second time, you'll find a small opening in the wooden fence, which you can squeeze through.
This will lead you to the small river area, where you can side-scroll to the right and reach a cracked metal rooftop with some tires. Jump a few times on the cracked spot until it gives way, causing both the roof and you to tumble down. You'll find yourself emerging from a garage located in the barn. Give the tree with the big hole a good smack, and the owl will make an appearance.
The Ducks
On your second visit to the river, while you're out searching for Jasper's hammer, you’ll come across some ducks. After you reel in the hammer from the river, head to the right to find them discussing a parking ticket in the river.
You won't find the ducks unless you toss a slice of bread from the toaster into the river on your first pass through the area.
