The Sims 4: Lovestruck has everything your Sim needs to become SimNation's greatest lover. With the introduction of the Romance Skill, love has become a level-able mechanic. As your Sim climbs the ranks to level ten Romance Skill, they will earn special perks, new interactions, and a reputation as SimNation's Most Wanted (in love!).
As your Sims flirt, date, and serenade their way into romantic success, they will progress through the new Romance Skill. Your Sims can also teach the benefits of healthy relationship habits to their children, giving the child Sim a chance at becoming a Romantic Sage.
How To Start The Romance Skill
The Romance Skill is one of the easiest and most naturally acquired skills your Sim can achieve. Your Sim will automatically gain the Romance Skill during any romantic interaction they have with another Sim.
To start the Romance Skill, you only need to have your Sim flirt with another Sim. As their flirty banter grows more passionate, you will begin to see more and more options marked with an icon of a red heart in a bouquet. This icon indicates an action that will raise your Romance Skill.
It is important to note that not all interactions that raise the Romance Skill will be marked with the heart bouquet icon. Some actions, like asking another Sim to Woo-Hoo will also raise your Sim's Romance Skill level.
All Romance Skill Level Rewards
For every level your Sim progresses in the Romance Skill, you will unlock new interactions you can have with other Sims.
These interactions will only affect the Sim who is leveling their Romance Skill. You cannot access these unlocked interactions as any Sim other than the one who has unlocked them.

These interactions will also contribute to leveling the Romance Skill. So, as your Sim reaches higher levels of the Romance skill, they will have more access to new interactions that can raise their Skill.
Some of these interactions, like 'Steamy Make Out', can only be performed with a Romantic Partner Sim. This includes Sims who are 'WooHoo' partners.
Tips For Maxing The Romance Skill Quickly
There are a few ways your Sims can level their Romance Skill more quickly, and many of them are universal for other Skills.
Universal Methods
Like with any other Skill, your Sim can read Skill Books and 'Research' a Skill under the computer's 'Web' function, to improve their Skills.
If you have unlocked the Sims 4: Discover University pack, your Sims can also use the phone to attend Skills classes for passive skill leveling.
Another great way to increase the speed at which your Sims gain Skill levels is to make sure they are frequently 'In The Mood' when performing interactions associated with the target Skill. So, to have better luck leveling your Sim's Romance Skill, you want your Sim to be in a Flirty Mood.
Listening to romantic radio stations, watching romantic television, reading romance novels, and looking at flirty art are all great ways to get your Sim in the mood for romance.
You can also utilizeSim traits and Lot traits to maximize your Sim's leveling potential and milk the Romance Skill for all it's worth.
Sims with the Romantic or Lovebug trait are particularly successful when leveling their Romance Skill. Romantics become Flirty more frequently and Lovebugs have increased performance in romance tasks.
The lot trait Romantic Aura will also make it easier for your Sims to get in a flirty mood on the affected lot.
Choosing an initial Aspiration for your Sim in CAS will also give them a trait associated with that Aspiration. Sims will keep this trait even if they change their Aspiration.
Arguably the best initial Aspiration for a Sim who's looking to increase their Romance Skill quickly is the Soulmate Aspiration.
Sims with the Soulmate Aspiration are especially love-oriented and will have an easier time forming romantic bonds with other Sims. You can compound this effect by selecting both the Romantic and Lovebug traits.
Try to avoid traits like Shy or Noncommittal , as they will prevent your Sim from effectively leveling the Romance Skill.
Go On Personalized Dates
Another great way to level your Sims' Romance Skill more effectively is to plan their dates around Romance-oriented tasks. To do this, select a Sim you want your Sim to romance and choose the option 'Ask To Create Date.' From here, you can customize date goals.
Prioritize goals like WooHoo or Physical Intimacy as these interactions automatically fill your Romance Skill bar. Flirting and romantic gift-giving will also improve Romance Skill.
You can also have your dating Sims play the Who's Up party game. This game will help your Sims get to know each other, put them in the right mood for romance, and level the Romance Skill.
Synergize Your Sims' Turn-Ons And Turn-Offs
Finally, you will have a much easier time leveling your Sim's Romance Skill by having them interact with partners who cater to their turn-ons and turn-offs.
As Sims get to know each other, they will uncover one another's personality quirks and interests. You will get a text box in your message board notifying you if your Sim finds certain traits attractive or unattractive.
Sims who are romantically compatible will have a magnet symbol over their image in the Social menu on the bottom right of your screen.
If you are using Cupid's Corner, Sim profile pages are automatically marked with turn-ons and turn-offs.
You can customize your Sims' turn-ons and turn-offs at any time in the Create A Sim menu, but you cannot alter pre-existing attraction preferences (what genders the Sim is interested in) once the Sim has exited CAS.
The Romantic Sage Trait
The Romantic Sage Trait lets your Sim 'Self Soothe' which will reduce negative romance buffs by 40 percent. Simply put, they won't feel as down about being rejected by a love interest or after embarrassing themselves around a crush.
Sims who experience fewer Romantic aversions or negative experiences with Romance are more likely to level their Romance Skill more quickly. When Sims associate a Skill with positive moodlets , they can 'like' that Skill and will level up quicker.
To get the Romantic Sage Trait, your Sim has to be taught about living their life with love at the center. They can either learn from a parent's teachings or through life lessons as they age.
The Romantic Sage Trait can be earned when a child Sim has been 'Educated on Positive Romance Dynamics' several times growing up. If the child Sim has endured enough life lessons about love, they will earn the Romantic Sage Trait upon aging into a teenager.
Have your parent Sim frequently educate their child on positive relationship dynamics by using the ' Educated on Positive Romance Dynamics' as many times as you have patience.
Adult Sims can also earn the Romantic Sage Trait. If your Sim has enough experience understanding how relationships work or what their partner's boundaries are, they can develop the Romantic Sage Trait.
To gain the Romantic Sage Trait as an adult Sim, your Sim should frequently check in with their romantic partner about the health of their relationship or their boundaries. 'Discussing Healthy Relationships' is a great way to send your Sim on the path to becoming a Romantic Sage.
You can also use cheats to give your Sim the Romantic Sage Trait. Enter the cheats radial on your Sim ( Shift-click on a PC) and select the 'Change Sim Traits' option. From here, you can find the trait you would like to give your Sim and apply it permanently. You can likewise remove a trait in the same way.
