Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

In Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, there are plenty of builds to try, and sometimes one gameplay experience isn't enough to answer the question. The mind always wonders, "What if I tried that build or chose that origin?" One of the origins of the game is the Ministorum Priest.

It's a bit more themed around religion and enjoys punishing heretics. In the game, you'll encounter many dogmatic characters, including your companions, and this time, perhaps you could be one of them as a Ministorum Priest, fighting heresy. If you're curious about how to build this intriguing origin, you're in the right place. Ready? Let's get started!

Best Features And Talents

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

If you start as a Ministorum Priest, you will be given the "War Hymn" feature at the beginning. When you use this ability, you will gain momentum equal to twice your Willpower bonus.

Additionally, for every enemy within a five-cell radius or every enemy that hits you, you will gain extra momentum equal to your WP bonus. This requires you to use this ability a bit r to the enemies rather than from a distance.

Momentum is a crucial mechanic in battles. With momentum, you can use heroic acts or desperate measures . When momentum reaches 175, you can use a heroic act; if it drops below 25, you can use desperate measures, but remember that it comes with negative effects.

However, gaining momentum alone won't be enough, so you must be effective both defensively and offensively. Other talents that a Ministorum Priest can learn include:

Talent Name

Description

Litany of Purification

All enemies in the area of effect of War Hymn of Furious Recital gain plus one stack of the disturbed effect. Enemies that are adjacent to the priest gain plus two stacks of disturbed instead. Also, all daemons in the area of effect suffer damage equal to the momentum restored to the priest while using this ability.

Litany of Hatred

The devotee and their allies in the area of effect of War Hymn of Furious Recital gain +(devotee's WP bonus / two) damage for single shots and attacks of opportunity for one round.

Shield of Faith

The Ministorum priest gains +(four X WP bonus)% to armor against attacks of daemons and warp damage. The priest's resolve is also permanently increased by (WP bonus / two).

The Emperor Protects

The Ministorum Priest gains a WP bonus % chance to ignore any enemy attack.

Flensing Faith

Melee, flame, and melta attacks against daemons and psykers deal an additional +(two X WP bonus) damage and gain +(six X WP bonus)% armour penetration. Such attacks against xenos deal an additional +WP bonus damage and gain +(three X WP bonus)% armour penetration.

As you can see, your character has advantages against various types of enemies, as well as talents like "Emperor Protects" that can completely negate damage. You should be aware of these when building your character.

One of the first companions you will encounter in the game, Battle Sister Argenta , also has Ministorum Priest origin. If she is on your team, you can make her build differently or choose another companion instead.

Best Homeworld

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

Voidborn is quite advantageous as a homeworld. It will give you a plus five Willpower, which is one of the stats you desire. Additionally, it provides a plus five Intelligence while decreasing Strength by five, which shouldn't be a problem since you won't need Strength.

By choosing Voidborn as your homeworld, you gain access to the feature called Fortune. This allows you to reroll a failed attack, dodge, parry, characteristic, or skill test with a twenty percent chance of success.

Furthermore, there is a fantastic talent like Bloody Mess, which doubles your critical damage with a ten percent chance. Also, the Contagious Luck talent boosts the success chances of your allies' attacks, dodges, and parries while reducing those of enemies.

Additionally, with Just a Flesh Wound talent, there's a twenty percent chance to survive with just one wound when receiving lethal damage. In short, your character will have plenty of chances to do amazing things.

Alternatively, if you want to start with a plus five bonus to Toughness, Death World is another viable choice of homeworld. It also has its own set of defensive and offensive talents. Moreover, if you choose Death World, the Wounded Beast talent will increase your Willpower by plus five for each injury received and provide a plus 15 bonus for each trauma.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

Starting as an Officer will elevate your role and responsibility in combat. You'll need to assist your team in every aspect. Also investing a bit in Fellowship for now won't hurt. In battles, your primary focus will be to buff your allies, and grant them extra turns, while also raining bullets on enemies with a good weapon.

Remember, you need to play at a distance where you can buff your allies and deal damage to enemies effectively.

Additionally, with "Bring it Down!" you can grant an extra turn to one of your allies, thus altering the course of battle. However, merely supporting won't suffice; whenever possible, deal damage to enemies to gain an additional five Fellowship.

Furthermore, by using "Voice of Command" and "Get Back In Fight!" on allies, you can remove their negative effects like burning, bleeding, or toxins and provide them with extra temporary wounds.

If you're fighting against daemons, psykers, or xenos, using flame or melta weapons against them will provide you with an extra damage bonus.

Lastly, by using the "Break Their Ranks!" ability on melee-fighting allies, you can make them even more effective.

Second Archetype Choice: Master Tactician

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

When you choose the Master Tactician archetype, momentum becomes even more crucial for you. With the "Tactical Advantage" feature, you'll gain one stack for every five momentum you or your allies acquire. Additionally, you'll start the battle with tactical advantage stacks equal to your Fellowship characteristic bonus.

Understanding the importance of these stacks is crucial. Firstly, you have another feature called "Press the Advantage." This allows your next damage to increase by four percent for each stack you possess. However, after using this skill, you lose half of your stacks. This means you can deal significant damage to your opponents thanks to this ability.

Remember that with War Hymn, you can gain a minimum of 14 momentum with this build.

Orchestrated Firestorm (Upgrade I)

The "Assign Objective" ability is quite crucial. With this, you must select an enemy, and that enemy needs to be killed by an ally. As a result, the slain enemy will grant a plus five bonus to all characteristics of that ally and gain momentum. This not only strengthens the ally but also allows you to gain stacks for Tactical Advantage due to the acquired momentum.

With "Orchestrated Firestorm," you and all your allies will deal damage if you are within the selected area's line of sight

"Linchpin" is another strategic ability you need to know about. When used, the ally gains one resolve for every five Tactical Advantage stacks you have, but you'll lose half of your stacks. Remember that resolve is an important stat and helps increase the acquired momentum. Permanent resolve gain for your allies will be beneficial for you to gain stacks.

Additionally, when you unlock the "Reliance" talent, you'll only lose one-fourth of your stacks instead of half when you use "Linhcpin."

Furthermore, "Shield of Faith," besides its defensive properties, will permanently increase your resolve by three, allowing you to gain more momentum.

Finally, with "Inspire," one of your allies will gain a permanent five percent damage bonus. Additionally, for every ten Tactical Advantage stacks you have, they'll gain an additional five percent damage bonus. However, you'll lose half of your stacks. As you can see, Tactical Advantage is crucial, and momentum and resolve are things you need to manage effectively.

Third Archetype: Exemplar

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Best Ministorum Priest Build

After reaching the Exemplar archetype, don't put yourself in dangerous situations in the late game. Avoid taking excessive risks and deal damage to enemies from a safe distance while protecting your allies. It's still crucial for you to continue gaining momentum and ensuring your allies do so as well.

As an Exemplar, you'll be able to heal your friends with less AP, providing extra benefits while doing so. Granting additional turns and buffs to your strongest allies will further enhance the course of battle for you.
