In Zenless Zone Zero, love is in the air. No, not for any of the Agents (unfortunately), but the newly-sentient boring machine Greta. However, young love can be difficult to deal with, and now Belebog Industries has pawned the task off to you.
As the introduction to Act Two of the game, and to the wild crew that is Belebog Industries, Mechanical Love is a Story Commission that takes you through a decrepit construction site to rescue the lovesick Greta, and perhaps even save Belebog's reputation. So enjoy your brief team-up with your new Agents and delve into the Hollow to finish the commission!
How To Unlock The Mechanical Love Commission
The Mechanical Love Commission (and its companion quest Let's Go, Bro!) can both be unlocked once you reach Chapter Two of the game. During the main quest A Call From The Hollow's Heart, you will be invited to the Belebog construction site and speak with the crew working there.
Mechanical Love is the quest given when you speak to Grace after the introductory cutscene. Once you speak with her, Mechanical Love will be added as a Story Commission in the HDD.
How To Prepare For Mechanical Love
Mechanical Love is a medium-level difficulty commission, with a recommended Agent level of 24. Likewise, Ice and Electric attributes will serve you well in fights against Ethereals and the boss fight against Greta.
Luckily, there is not much preparation you need to do, since the members of Belebog Industries will join you as a trial team for this commission. All of the Agents are the appropriate level and build well enough to hold their own.
If you would rather use your own Agents, toggle the "Trial Mode" button on the bottom-left of the Agent select screen to use your own Agents. Know, though, that you can't mix and match Trial Agents with your own , so choose wisely!
You will mostly want to rely on Grace as an Electric Agent and a powerful Anomoly specialty Agent. Ben and Koleda are excellent for Perfect Assists, and Koleda can pack a punch with her Ultimate attack.
Entering The Hollow
Floor One
When you first enter the Hollow, a brief cutscene will play, and after gathering Hollow data, the screens will spread up before branching to the left and right. You will need to move up to reach the main map.
At the very left of the HDD screen you will see Hollow Observation Data blocked by an enemy tile. This enemy tile is asleep, but will wake up and chase you once you get enough. You will need to enter combat to remove the tile and reach the Hollow Observation Data.
We recommend using this combat to get used to your Trial Team if you're unaccustomed to their play style. These are minor Ethereals, so while combat is tedious, it should be a relatively quick fight.
With the monster tile cleared, move to the left to claim the Hollow Observation Data, then move upwards towards the Gear Coin Vault.
Here, another sleeping monster tile will wake up and chase you, but you can move towards the spring tile to avoid combat.
You can enter combat against these Ethereals and end their chasing — and the combat is relatively easy.
Using this spring tile will also launch you to the far left of the map to previously unseen screens, allowing you to unlock more loot and avoid opening the Gear Coin Vault since you are pushed behind it.
Move to the right to claim the Hollow Observation Data from behind the Gear Coin Vault, then move up to explore the rest of the map.
There is an unavoidable combat encounter as you move up and right, collecting Gear Coins. Once combat is over, you can move up to the checkpoint tile marked by a "glowing Z" tile.
You can continue exploring this floor, using the springs to avoid combat and collect Gear Coins. However, since you already should have claimed the data set from behind the Gear Coin Vault, you do not need the Gear Coins, and can progress with the commission if you prefer.
Floor Two
When you move a floor down, another enemy will wake up and begin following you. It can be avoided by circling around the bricks, or defeated in a quick round of combat.
The final Hollow Observation Data can be found to the right of the monster tile. To claim it without combat, you can make a loop around the bricks before descending to the bottom right corner of the HDD.
Once you hit the bottom right corner, a new area of the map will load with a "pink enemy" tile. This enemy, which will chase you, cannot be defeated, and if you ever hit this tile, it will drain your character's HP.
You can move to the right and circle around the bricks to avoid running into the pink enemy tile. Head upwards and to the left towards the red button tile and activate it. This will open up another new area of the map above you.
Follow the trail up and to the left to push another red button, which will create a question mark tile that enemies cannot pass through. Go to the center and claim all of the Rest Area tiles, then return to the red button tile.
When you step on the red button tile again, Grace will begin dialogue before spawning four bomb tiles to your right. The explosion this sets off will send you back up to the first floor.
Grace's explosives will damage your team. However, to the right of where you spawn in the heart is an Ether Dewdrop tile, which you can use to heal up before the boss fight.
When you arrive at the upper floor, you will be inside the heart-shaped tiles. Move to the left to reach Greta's tile and begin a boss fight against her.
Fighting Greta
You will have to fight Greta to convince her to leave the Hollow.
Greta |
|
---|---|
Faction: Special |
Type: Machine |
Weakness: Electric |
Resistance: Physical |
Luckily, Greta doesn't have a lot of mobility, but she does release long chains of spinning combo attacks that can be difficult to dodge if you aren't quick with a switch.
Greta's attacks are long, so be sure to be patient and keep your distance until her animations are over, then jump in on the offensive.
Greta also has an area of effect sand attack that will appear around Greta at times. During this attack, it is best to move far away from Greta until the attack is done.
You'll want to rely on Grace for most of the fight, not only to inflict status conditions, but also because her Electric Attribute is extra effective against Greta. In between Grace's attacks, use Ben's defensive abilties and Koleda's Stun abilities to lessen the damage Greta deals.
Grace cannot perform Perfect Assists — she can only perform Perfect Dodges. Keep this in mind when blocking damage.
With Greta defeated, you will get one final cutscene before the commission is complete!
