One-Punch Man fans endured a major letdown at this year’s Anime Expo. Despite the series still officially set to release in roughly three months with Season 3, the anime’s highly anticipated panel event this weekend ended without a new trailer drop or a release date.
On July 5, Anime Expo’s «Saitama is Back!» One-Punch Man panel was held at the JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom of the Los Angeles Convention Center. At this event, several members of the Japanese voice cast — including Saitama VA Makoto Furukawa — discussed various details about the upcoming season. While the cast confirmed that they are currently recording dialogue for Season 3, no new footage or staff details were revealed. This disappointing turn of events has been interpreted by some fans as a grave omen for the anime’s future.
Highly Anticipated One-Punch Man Season 3 Reveal a Flop for Anime Fans
One-Punch Man Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in October 2025. However, few concrete details have been confirmed by J.C.Staff. The anime studio has not yet revealed a director for Season 3, leaving some to conclude that one has not yet been chosen. Aside from the original promotional visual and a brief teaser trailer released earlier this year, there has been a woeful lack of marketing materials for the series. With no obvious explanation, some OPM fans have concluded that J.C.Staff is currently lacking confidence in the production’s current status. «I’m extremely nervous,» one X user wrote. «We’ve been waiting six years for this season, SIX YEARS and yet they refuse to show a trailer or even a director. Are they afraid? What is happening with One-Punch Man Season 3?»
Anime Expo’s panel did not end without a few pleasant surprises for fans, the most noteworthy of which was an unanticipated appearance by Genos voice actor Kaito Ishikawa. Additionally, One Punch Man creator ONE showcased a new character illustration, coupled with a cheerful written message regarding the new season. «Thank you to all U.S. fans! I am truly looking forward to the broadcast of Season 3 [which] will delve deeply into the thrilling new adventures of the S-Class Heroes,» he said. «I want to thank the production team for their passion in bringing the spirit of the original manga to life and shaping it into a mesmerizing storyline which is unique to the anime.»
While the majority of Season 3’s staff has not yet been revealed, several key figures from Season 2 will be returning for the upcoming installment. Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) is reprising his role as series composition writer. Season 2 character designer Chikashi Kubota will be returning to the role for Season 3, alongside Ryosuke Shirakawa (Violet Evergarden, Sound! Euphonium) and Shinjiro Kuroda (Spy x Family: Code White) — two newer additions to the staff. Makoto Miyazaki will also be returning to compose the series’ music.
One Punch Man Season 3 is slated to debut in October 2025. In the meantime, the latest chapters of the One-Punch Man manga by Yusuke Murata and ONE are available in English from VIZ Media. Viewers in the U.S. can catch up on the anime series via Hulu and Disney+.
