Tokyo Metro turns entire trains purple for Ditto Pokemon Pokopia collab

Tokyo Metro has transformed one of its busiest lines into a giant Ditto promotion to celebrate the launch of Pokemon Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2.

Starting March 2, the purple Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line is being taken over by Ditto in a limited-time collaboration with the cute mimic monster.

According to Tokyo Metro’s official press release, this marks the first time the Hanzomon Line has operated fully customized trains as a complete ad takeover.

Two trains will be running with the Ditto designs through March 15, so if you happen to be in Japan, you may get to hop on board the Pokemon-themed carriage.

Ride a train and chill with Ditto

As for why the Ditto collab appears in Hanzomon, it’s because its Japanese name, “Metamon,” shares the “mon” sound with “Hanzomon.” Combined with the line’s signature purple color matching Ditto’s body, it makes it the perfect IRL collab.

Images from the collab show Ditto-themed handrails, purple seats and flooring, and large Ditto signage hanging from the top of the carriage. Station platforms have also been colored purple to match the monster’s signature look.

Themed advertising appears at Oshiage (Skytree-mae), Hanzomon, and Shibuya stations from March 2 to March 8, with some displays at Shibuya remaining until March 15.

This isn’t the only real-world Pokemon collaboration announced this year. In February, The Pokemon Company revealed it was teaming up with Japanese airline All Nippon Airways to launch new Pokemon-themed aircraft as part of the brand’s ongoing anniversary celebrations.
