Plant these specific crops
You start in the Spring season. The following crops last through Spring and Summer, as well as regrowing their produce after they initially mature. This means that you can repeatedly get crops from them to sell, or to turn into higher value items like Wine. The seeds for them also don’t cost many Coins to purchase:
- Strawberry
- Raspberry
- White Grapes
- Blood Grapes
Play until The Need for Herbs quest
Focus on completing the main story quests until you reach and complete ‘The Need for Herbs’ main quest. This will ensure you’ve unlocked all of the basic tools and farming methods you’ll need to get a solid start to your farm. This includes obtaining the Net for catching critters, learning how to fish, and obtaining basic equipment blueprints.
Build multiple Kegs
As we’ve said in our making money guide, building multiple Kegs as soon as you get their blueprint from Orlock is a surefire way of getting Coins quickly. This specific piece of equipment will help you turn your produce into Juices and Wines that sell for a profit with Chester.
Upgrade your Tools to Iron level
The better the tools you have, the more resources you can harvest and use to improve your farm. There are multiple levels to your tools. You’ll start with Rusty, then can upgrade to Copper and Iron. There is also a Gold tier but this will be a later game upgrade (unless you’re grinding away).
Upgrading your tools to the ‘Iron’ level is ideal, as it’ll give you access to most of the materials you can harvest and make use of when you start out, such as Iron Bars. Remember, to upgrade tools you need to visit Ridge at the Howling Hammer.
Purchase Spells
After getting your Wand fixed, you can purchase spells from Sabrina at Webb of Wonders. We’ve got a whole page dedicated to the best spells if you want to know what’s worth purchasing. Remember, you will get Aquaflux I for free and this summons an enchanted watering can.
If you’re on a limited budget at the beginning of your adventure, then you should ideally look at purchasing Ethereal Pickaxes and Ethereal Axes. Both of these spells will use Mana to cast and harvest resources for you in the nearby area, while preserving your energy levels for other activities.
