Helldivers 2 leaker who revealed the Chainsword now teases TD-220 Bastion tank, Automaton content, and long-awaited ship module upgrades.

IronS1ghts went quiet back in October after spending months pulling future content from Helldivers 2 files. Two months later, they’re back, and one of the first things they’ve leaked is an official icon for the TD-220 Bastion with a simple claim that it’s “coming soon.”

The TD-220 appears to be an upgraded version of the TD-110 Bastion from the original Helldivers, a two-person tank destroyer that required actual coordination to use properly. One that long-time players still remember fondly:

For anyone doubting the validity of the leak, it’s worth remembering that IronS1ghts was the first to post the chainsword silhouette back in February 2025. That weapon finally launched as the CQC-9 Defoliation Tool with the latest Python Commandos warbond, giving the leaker a near-perfect record on major reveals.

The timing here doesn’t feel accidental, either. Patch 5.0.0 included a cryptic reference to signals coming from unmonitored worlds, and when Super Earth drops hints, it usually means something is on the horizon.

Why the Bastion Tank Is a Big Deal for Helldivers 2 Players

The original Bastion wasn’t technically a tank despite everyone treating it like one. It functioned as a “tank destroyer” that required two Helldivers to operate effectively. One player drove and aimed the entire vehicle, while the gunner handled the main cannon and machine gun.

That level of coordination likely made it either devastating or useless, depending entirely on your squad’s ability to communicate. Against bugs, it was nearly unstoppable. Most smaller enemy types couldn’t even scratch the armor, with only the heaviest bot units or Illuminate weapons posing a serious threat.

So, Patch 5.0.0 didn’t just shrink Helldivers 2’s install size for PC players; it also exposed more than intended. The update cut the game from 154GB to just 23GB—a major technical feat thanks in part to support from the porting veterans at Nixxes Software—but that same optimization work has apparently given dataminers new access points.

Leak Also Hints at Renewed Automaton Focus and Tier 6 Ship Upgrades

The Bastion tank wasn’t the only piece of intel IronS1ghts shared this week. In another post, they hinted that the Automatons are all set to become Arrowhead‘s next major focus. With the Terminid arc now apparently concluded following the Hive World and Gloom campaigns, it does make narrative sense to shift to bots:

This tracks with previous leaks about a Death Star-inspired Automaton superweapon and Factory Worlds dedicated to bot production. The “mysterious signals” tease from the latest patch notes could also easily tie into Automaton escalation, especially with the chrome “Iron Fleet” variants already datamined months ago.

Beyond enemy content, IronS1ghts also gave us a sneak peek at something players have been asking about for months: Tier 6 ship modules. The last ship upgrade tier dropped in July 2024, and since then, endgame players have had nothing meaningful to spend Samples on aside from Democracy Space Station votes. That 18-month drought may finally be ending… soon™.
