A passenger was stopped at Detroit’s Metro Airport after an entire cooked pig was found inside their luggage. Seriously.
When you’re stepping on a plane, no matter if its a domestic or international flight, headaches with baggage happen. You might be just on the limit of a weight allowance, or you cabin bag is just over the stipulated size. If this is the case, then you might have to pay an extra fee, or give up your bag entirely.
On top of that, there are plenty of restrictions as to what you can have inside your of suitcase too. Anyone who has had their bag stopped for an additional search will know it causes some stress, especially if they ask if you’ve packed your bag yourself. You can end up questioning yourself.
However, over in Detroit, one passenger was stopped after an entire cooked pig was found inside of their luggage.
Flyer had “entire cooked pig” in their luggage
That’s right, according to Marty C. Raybon, the Customs and Border Patrol Director of Field Operations in Detroit, after he flagged the unusual piece of luggage on social media.
“TASTE OF HOME: A traveler arriving from Togo was found to have packed an entire cooked pig in their checked bag at Detroit Metro Airport,” Raybon said, attaching a photo of the pig too.
“Pork products are generally prohibited due to the risk of introducing African swine fever in the U.S.”

As per Paddle Your Own Kanoo, the cooked pig is a “fairly unusual find,” but it’s not the first time, nor will it be the last, that travelers are found with cooked food in their luggage.

The passenger was likely told to ditch the food before being allowed to enter the United States. If not, they will have been turned around at baggage check and sent home.
Some airlines are cracking down on passenger behavior, including stopping them from using smart glasses to film staff, and requiring fliers to plug in headphones rather than play music out loud.
Breaking these rules will see you kicked off your flight, and potentially banned from flying with the airline in future.
