UNIQLO is celebrating three decades of Pokemon with a new clothing collection that brings back the franchise’s original Gen 1 artwork.
The retailer’s UT graphic tee line is launching a special Pokemon range inspired by the early watercolor-style illustrations used in the 1996 games, with classic Kanto favorites like Charizard, Mewtwo, Gengar, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle featured across the designs.
UNIQLO Pokemon collection celebrates original designs
The collection is designed as a nostalgic tribute to the franchise’s origins, using the art style popularized by legendary Pokemon illustrator Ken Sugimori during the era of the original Red and Green (or Blue) Game Boy era.
Rather than focusing on modern anime stills or 3D game renders, the shirts highlight the softer, watercolor look that defined the earliest Pokedex entries.

Characters from the Kanto region dominate the lineup, including the original starter trio of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, alongside fan favorites such as Pikachu, Snorlax, and Gengar.
In total, the drop includes ten designs split between adult and children’s sizes, with five shirts available in each category. Adult shirts are priced at around $14, while kids’ versions are priced at $7.
The collection is scheduled to launch in late March 2026 through UNIQLO stores and its online storefront, initially in Japan, with international releases expected to follow later as with previous UT collaborations.
The new apparel line is one of several collaborations planned to mark Pokemon’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Last week, Game Freak officially revealed the next mainline games, Pokemon Wind and Waves, and we even got a first look at the three new starters.
