A viral buffalo named “Donald Trump,” thanks to his sweeping blonde hairstyle, has been rescued by the Bangladesh government and is now spending his days at a local zoo.

Back on May 21, a rare albino buffalo from Bangladesh made headlines after his unique blonde hairstyle led to him being nicknamed after the American president.

As you can imagine, his unique look led a lot of attention from both local media and tourists, who flocked to the farm in Narayanganj district near the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.

Despite his newfound fame, the celebrity buffalo was expected to be sacrificed during Eid al-Adha, an Islamic holiday where millions of livestock are traditionally slaughtered and shared among families and communities.

However, in a move that feels like it’s come straight out of a Hollywood movie, the local government has stepped in and saved the buffalo from meeting its maker.

As revealed by Reuters, Bangladeshi Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed ordered the buffalo to be spared. According to the report, the buyer was refunded, and the golden-haired buffalo has now been moved to a national zoo in Dhaka.

“At the last moment, the decision was taken to spare the buffalo from sacrifice due to security concerns and the unusual level of public interest,” a ministry official said.

Light-colored albino buffaloes are extremely uncommon in Bangladesh, where the vast majority of the animals have dark skin and coats. Combine this with his outstanding blond hairstyle, and you have an eye-catching combo that makes him stand out against his bovine peers.

So, it seems the “Donald Trump” buffalo will be able to live out his days in peace and enjoy his newfound freedom.
