The highly anticipated Update 18 for Volleyball Legends is now live, bringing a host of exciting new features, balance changes, and events for players to enjoy. From new characters to game modes and quality-of-life improvements, here’s everything you need to know about this massive update!
New Godly Max Blocker: Hirakumi
Update 18 introduces the new Godly Max Blocker, Hirakumi, the first character in the game to have a max block. Known for his incredible shutdown blocks (just like when blocking was accidentally overpowered), Hirakumi is an excellent addition for those who prioritize defense in their team composition.
- Strengths: His blocks are incredibly powerful, making him a dominant force in defense. While his speed is slow, his ability to shut down attacks is second to none.
- New Best Godly Character?: With his overwhelming block abilities, Hirakumi is being hailed as a potential new best Godly character. Time will tell, but he’s definitely one to watch!
New Hardcore Gamemode
For players looking for a more challenging experience, the new Hardcore Gamemode has arrived, featuring a pro-level tournament court and strict volleyball rules. This mode allows you to play like a professional volleyball player under bright stage lights.
- Real Volleyball Rules: You can’t hit around the antennas, and there is a backrow rule where backrow players can’t jump in front of the attack line.
- No Abilities Allowed: This gamemode forces you to rely purely on your skills, as no abilities are allowed.
- Level Cap: For now, this mode is capped at Level 15 to allow players from other volleyball games to join and try it out. Feedback is welcome for future level cap adjustments!
Team Select UI Overhaul
The team selection UI has undergone a complete overhaul for a more polished and seamless experience. The old design was out of place with the rest of the user interface, but now it fits perfectly with the overall theme of the game.
- What’s New?: The UI is now much more visually appealing and user-friendly, making it easier to select your team before the match.
- More QOL Improvements: The developers are working on more quality-of-life features that will be coming soon. Let them know what you think could be improved!
Switch Characters Before Ranked Matches
A new quality-of-life feature allows players to switch characters before ranked matches. This is a great tool for strategizing with your team and building the perfect lineup for each game.
- New Feature: You can now switch your characters in the Team Select UI before a ranked match.
- Visibility: You’ll also be able to see what characters both your teammates and opponents have picked, giving you the opportunity to build a well-balanced team composition.
Shiftlock Now in Mobile Controls
Mobile players, rejoice! The much-requested Shiftlock feature is now available in the mobile controls, allowing for smoother gameplay and precision, especially during trick serves.
Balance Changes
As part of this update, several characters have received balance changes to either nerf those who’ve been too dominant or buff those who needed some extra power. Here’s a quick breakdown of the changes:
- Kimiro Buffed: His Super Dive is now cancelable, and his set is stronger than ever. The goal is to make Kimiro a more viable setter and libero across all game modes.
- Timeskip Kagayomo Nerf: His Super Set now drops 0.2 seconds faster and no longer pulls the ball up. This change is aimed at making other setter characters more viable in the meta.
- Sanu Nerf: Sanu’s serve has been nerfed by 5%, and his left/right tilt has been nerfed by 15%. This change is based on player feedback, as his spike and serve were considered too unpredictable.

2X Secret Luck Weekend
For players hoping to unlock secret items, 2X Secret Luck weekend is here! From 11:30 AM ET on 5/3/25 to 11:30 AM ET on 5/5/25, you’ll have double the chance to get those coveted secret styles.
- Secret Pity Halved: The Secret Pity timer is now reduced from 200 to 100, meaning you’ll unlock a secret item faster.
- Secret Style Chances Doubled: The chances of getting a secret style are now 1% (up from 0.5%).
