That’s an interesting sign

Washington Senator Patty Murray posted a video to a social media platform in which she reacted to a poster Tommy Tuberville had on the Senate floor that read, “Social Security is a scam.” People largely supported Social Security, while others argued with Murray and wondered why she doesn’t create a program to fight this belief, given that the program faces insolvency.
"It's a big, gigantic, blown-up Ponzi scheme." THAT is what a Senate Republican said on the floor just yesterday.
At a time when Social Security is facing insolvency, we need to fight to SAVE Social Security now and for future generations.

The video above features Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville standing next to a sign that reads, “Social Security is a scam.” Concerning the topic, he can be heard saying, “Stop this Social Security scam. It’s a big, gigantic, blown-up Ponzi scheme.”
In response, Senator Patty Murray explains why Tuberville was incorrect. You can hear her say, “It is not a scam. It’s your hard-earned tax dollars. It’s your money. At a time when Social Security is facing insolvency, you can bet I’m going to fight for Social Security, from now and into the future.“
She then claims that the topic of Social Security is hot amongsy campaigners this election year. In fact, she says that this year is “the Social Security election.”
For additional context, some people have been calling Social Security a scam due to its financial structure and genuine criminal scams that target the program. Some argue that the pay-as-you-go design and the fact that it finds current retirees mirrors fraudulent investments.
Comments and Reactions Towards Washington Senator’s Comments Towards Senate Floor Poster
Under a Reddit post that talks about Senator Patty Murray’s video, comments were largely in favor of Social Security. One of the top comments even reads, “MAGA is a scam. Project 2025 is a scam. Social Security is a public benefit that supports life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.“
Others were shocked to see the sign at all, with a different commenter writing, “Republicans are telling us to our faces that they want to cut Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Obamacare, and people will still vote for them and then blame Democrats for not fixing things fast enough. Honestly don’t know how we ever fix this country. People are too stupid.”
Some comments simply criticized Senator Tuberville, with one in particular reading, “Tommy Tuberville is one of the dumbest people on the planet. So embarrassing this illiterate, moron is part of our government.”
