Find exactly what features you’re getting when you’re playing the Switch 2 upgraded version in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Animal Crossing: New Horizons got itself an upgrade on Nintendo Switch 2, and with it came new features that are exclusive to that version of the game. Now, there are pieces that showed up in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0.0 that don’t require Switch 2. They are available to everyone. These changes are very specifically about the Switch 2 version. Here’s what you’re getting if you go for the upgrade. Here are the features that are exclusive to Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Switch 2 version: The first thing you will notice is an improvement in the visual quality of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch 2. The upgrade increases the max resolution so that you can play on 4K in Docked Mode and 1080p in Handheld Mode. The Switch 1 version is 1080p Docked and 720p Handheld. Maybe one of the most useful things to come to the Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons for decorators is mouse control functionality in the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Now, when you disconnect a Joy-Con 2 from the tablet or a pad, you can use its IR features on almost any surface, including your leg, to control a cursor on the screen when you are in any edit mode that has one. You can use the mouse controls for moving furniture around rooms in Remodel Mode or you can use it in Custom Designs to craft your creations in point-and-click fashion. Wherever a cursor can be found in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch 2, the mouse controls will serve you well. Need to get your animal islanders collective attention? The new Megaphone will let you do it. You can use this thing through regular gameplay options, or you can actually speak into the Nintendo Switch 2 system microphone. It’s a silly little way to call attention to yourself and makes for a fun new prop on the Switch 2 version. This is a bit a of a difficult mechanic to use, but it’s there. The capacity for players on one online island session has been increased to 12. Just beware: With New Horizons’ online set-up the way it is, you’re going to be doing a lot of stopping and going, waiting for players to load into your island on arrival or load out on leaving. And then there’s a chance of the session crashing outright. Still, the multiplayer upgrade is there if, for some reason, you want to try to get 12 players into one place. If you’re playing online with your friends, you can interact with them better on Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version features GameChat and CameraPlay, so if you have a webcam, you can interact via your facial camera, as well being able to chat in real-time with your friends via the system mic or your own setup. That covers the entirety of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Switch 2 features. Be sure to stay tuned to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons topic for more guides and updates.
